Chosen family has value. Platonic relationships can be just as serious as romantic ones. Single people have shared interests with LGBTQ people & polyamorous people & step-parent families, in support for families beyond nuclear. So honored to share my vision on @TEDRadioHour!

You may think of blood relatives, close friends, romantic partners, or someone else entirely.
Regardless of your definition, @DianaAdamsEsq says there’s no reason that non-traditional families shouldn’t have the same rights.

This is the awful way many #LGBTQIA people are treated by family of origin. I am rejected by most of my bio family too. Chosen family saved my life. I wish for each of you a family (perhaps of non-relatives) who make you feel cherished & chosen.
