Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 As advocates for gender equality and universal access to #SRH services, we address issues that disproportionately affect #LGBTQI people. We believe in a future where all people can live authentically, safely, and with access to the care they need to thrive.
This report calls out the disproportionate harm against the LGBTQI community, which is crucial in conversations about gender-based harm in the United States: populationinstitute.org/reso….
🌳🌊How do population trends influence biodiversity, water resources, and climate change vulnerability and adaptation? On #WorldEnvironmentDay, explore the answers to these questions in this set of briefs on population and the environment, featuring case studies from the field.
The briefs highlight overlooked insights on how population trends relate to planetary boundaries, gender equity, and reproductive agency—the capacity of individuals and couples to make their own decisions about conceiving and bearing children. 🔗 populationinstitute.org/reso….
Senior Fellow and FP/Earth Director Céline Delacroix recently taught a class, "The Reproductive Rights, Demographic Trends, and Environmental Sustainability Nexus in Context,” as part of the @UNCG summer course called GES 303: World Population Problems.
At our Exhibitor booth at the @PopAssocAmerica Annual Meeting earlier this month, we offered conference goers a quiz on global population trends. Some were surprised at their own results. Check out some of the highlights from the quiz results below!
The most frequently missed question (only 27 out of 117 correct responses) was “Approximately what proportion of pregnancies globally are unintended?” ✅ The answer: Nearly half.
The question with the highest number of correct responses (93 out of 117 correct responses) was “What is the approximate replacement-level fertility rate?” ✅ The answer: 2.1 births per woman.

Join us in welcoming our 2026 Stanback Fellows from @DukeEnvironment for the summer! ☀️🏛️🌱 They had an energizing orientation week, with an introduction to #SRHR and how population trends shape our future, as well as a hop-on, hop-off tour of D.C., and a scavenger hunt.
At the @ANSERnetwork 2026 Conference earlier this month, which the Population Institute was a proud partner of, Céline Delacroix, senior fellow and director of the FP/Earth project, spoke on a panel, “Climate Change and SRHR: Emerging Evidence and Responses."
Delacroix spoke alongside Stephanie Marriott, International Confederation of Midwives, Veronique Filippi, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, and Celia Groothedde, member of the Brussels Parlement and Belgian Senate.
Last week, SCOTUS extended an order that providers can continue telehealth prescription and mail delivery of mifepristone after the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals had blocked a policy allowing patients to obtain mifepristone online and through the mail.
The Louisiana v. FDA case will now be sent back to the Fifth Circuit for full briefing and arguments. The case will likely make its way back to the Supreme Court for a final ruling on the merits.

She delivered a well-received three-hour conference in Québec, organized by Université de Sherbrooke's Université du Troisième Âge, drawing an audience eager to explore questions of population aging, fertility decline and environmental sustainability in a North American context.
She also joined a career panel for Population Health PhD students at @uOttawa and moderated the Association for Environmental Sciences and Studies Student Research Symposium, a rewarding opportunity to engage with emerging researchers in Canada and the United States.
