It stems from a need to prioritize short term emotional satisfaction, like moral posturing over long term practical consequences, and a susceptibility to groupthink reinforced by urban echo chambers or social media. Especially the young ones, but bleeds into adult females (Karens) and adult men that can’t get their sh!t together. (Losers)
Policies like open borders, or aggressive climate initiatives make them feel virtuous, but clash with their own economic realities like job competition or energy costs, which ironically hit working class voters hardest, and they’re unable to see it.
They consistently make decisions based on incomplete information. They’re swayed by messaging that resonates emotional cognitive biases.(mostly peaceful)
Unfortunately, the messaging is "against their interests", but aligns with their values, like prioritizing social justice over economic gain, but then they want to blame others for their financial situation (eat the rich) thereby ignoring the complexity of their own not so complex decision-making and the power of tailored propaganda.
