On February 20th, 2026 Smith seemed (?) to commit to putting the Water Not Coal petition on the ballot in October.
The petition was issued on the February 10th, 2026.
Smith knew then that the Legislature wouldn't be sitting by the time it was done.

Alberta governments first introduced aspects of private HC in 1975…to shorten waiting lists.
Today we have surpassed 500,000 on treatment waiting lists, and those private options have done nothing to shorten them…only taken MORE of our tax dollars.
Decades of incompetence.
