1/13 A thread arguing that university rankings should include Contract Faculty stats. TLDR Version: Faculty working conditions are student learning conditions. This should interest the #CdnPSE community @ocufa @CAUT_ACPPU @ChandraPasma @cordnews @insidehighered @Laurier

Canada's federal budget will be delivered on March 28. Email @FP_Champagne, @cafreeland & @JustinTrudeau telling them to uphold their election promise and ensure what happened to Laurentian never happens again: ocufa.on.ca/neverhappenagain… #protectpublicuniversities #CdnPoli #CdnPSE

Precarity is the current & future reality for universities. #ContractFaculty have been treated for too long as temporary labourers when, in fact, this is and will be a career for the majority of academics. It is time our collective agreements reflected this. @WLUFA @CAUT_ACPPU

Racialized faculty & women are over-represented among contract faculty, with less job security, lower pay & benefits. It's time for equal pay & benefits so contract, temporary & part-time folks have same pay & benefits as full-time. #Fairness4CF #solidarityisourstrength #ONpoli

Temple University Administration’s actions are beyond reprehensible! This is an outrageous tactic to intimidate students from supporting the people who teach their classes.  And it ought to be illegal. They should be absolutely ashamed!  #SolidarityWithTUGSA

Temple University is withholding tuition assistance and health insurance for over a hundred graduate student workers after they went on strike for a livable wage. It says they must pay full tuition (more expensive than avg pay) for spring by March 9 or face a hold and $100 fine.

We are proposing #EqualPayforEqualWork, which would mean adjunct faculty would be paid at least $9,900 per class. Management countered with a mere $100 raise to our current pay...😡 Tell management what you think by signing your Strike Pledge today! #RUStrikeReady?

"The cheapest room at the Fogo Island Inn costs $2,875 a night for a minimum three-night stay, according to the resort's website." So one person's room costs more than a Per Course Instructor gets for an entire course? @LUMUN_NL @MUNFaculty @MUNSU35 cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundl…

Parking is a lucrative source of revenue for higher ed. CF often end up paying for parking permits at multiple campuses, & since schools treat them as low paid temporary workers, they should offer them discounts. Do any schools offer discounts on permits for CF? @laurier doesn't

imagine the power contract faculty across ontario would have if we all worked together. We are the engine that drives this province's higher education yet we are treated like temporary labourers. How do we mobilize on a large scale?

also universities: we can't afford to pay contract faculty (that teach most of our classes) fairly. also universities: we have millions to spend on administrators
universities: “we can’t afford new tenure-track hires” also universities: “we are proud to welcome 3 new HR coordinators and 6 additions to our public relations team!”

administrative bloat is sinking the quality of post secondary education.
A 44% increase in administrators, but only a 4% increase in faculty since 2012. How is this prioritizing students? Make it make sense, SMU admin!! #SMUStrike #StandWithSMUFU

Enough is enough. It's time to pay grad students at #WesternU a livable wage. For years, we have struggled to make ends meet, taking on other jobs and living off credit cards, all while @WesternU reports millions in excess revenues. Let's make some noise and demand action!
