It was a beautiful evening to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new South Fayette Elementary School as School Board members, district administrators, construction officials, students and families gathered to commemorate the moment. Making it extra special was the involvement of some members of the Class of 2039 who will be the first second graders when the new building opens; along with the performance of members of our IS and MS orchestra. Our campus improvement projects are for the benefit of our Lion Learners, and having their involvement in such an important event was significant. Thank you to all who were able to attend. πŸ’šπŸ¦πŸ€ #SFLionPride

They serve up so much more than meals -- they always have an extra helping of kindness and care to share with our Lion Learners. It's National School Librarian Day, and although the South Fayette Township School District library staff is on a well-deserved break, we want to recognize them for all that they do for our schools and particularly our Lion Learners. They are often the first to help students find the resources they need to learn and encourage students to pursue reading outside of academic texts. They assist teachers with resources and stories to support their lessons and create an environment where students are motivated to learn. They have gone from being the keeper of books to the masters of technology, and we cannot express our appreciation loudly (shhhhhh!) enough for all that they do each and every day! #SFLionPride

Ms. Amato's MS advisory students rallied around "Acts of Kindness" as their focus for the year, and Elizabeth Paolicelli and Anna Trahan reached out to their first grade teachers, Ms. Sarnowski and Ms. Slencak, to get them involved. Together the MSers and 1st graders are working together to make "busy bags" for children as they wait for appointments at a pediatrician's office in Bridgeville. Today, the students worked on coloring and writing in get well cards that were designed by Ms. Violi. The groups will gather again in March and April to finish the total project.
