Today is National School Lunch Hero Day! Our foodservice team always wears a smile through early morning breakfast rushes and long, busy lunch lines. They serve up so much more than meals -- they always have an extra helping of kindness and care to share with our Lion Learners. Thank you to the SF Foodservice Staff for fueling our students every day to prepare them to learn, grow, and thrive. We appreciate you!

Don't forget to wear purple tomorrow, Lions! April is Military Child Month and tomorrow we are wearing purple to show support for all of our Lions who have special adults serving in our military. Lions just like Braelynne in Mrs. Schooley's first grade class -- today her classmates read "A Paper Hug" and made their very own paper hugs to send to Braelynne's dad. Thank you for your service, Mr. Orso!

It's National School Librarian Day, and although the South Fayette Township School District library staff is on a well-deserved break, we want to recognize them for all that they do for our schools and particularly our Lion Learners. They are often the first to help students find the resources they need to learn and encourage students to pursue reading outside of academic texts. They assist teachers with resources and stories to support their lessons and create an environment where students are motivated to learn. They have gone from being the keeper of books to the masters of technology, and we cannot express our appreciation loudly (shhhhhh!) enough for all that they do each and every day!

Today was Kindergarten Preview Day ... the very first step for the Class of 2039! We were excited to see some familiar faces from our Little Lions Early Learning Academy and many new students ready to become Lions! It was a big first step for their families, too, as they had to let their kiddos head off to the classrooms with the teachers while they stayed behind with the principals! It was hard to tell who was being the most brave! π¦ We can't wait to see you all again soon! ππ€π

Dr. Unger's second grade Mini-Makers were hard at work today in the HS Fab Lab creating the desk organizers that they've sold to teachers and also sewing the pieces of a lovely quilt. New skills and talents were on display all around.

Ms. Amato's MS advisory students rallied around "Acts of Kindness" as their focus for the year, and Elizabeth Paolicelli and Anna Trahan reached out to their first grade teachers, Ms. Sarnowski and Ms. Slencak, to get them involved. Together the MSers and 1st graders are working together to make "busy bags" for children as they wait for appointments at a pediatrician's office in Bridgeville. Today, the students worked on coloring and writing in get well cards that were designed by Ms. Violi. The groups will gather again in March and April to finish the total project. Stay tuned!
