I used to watch motivational videos to pull me out of bed. I listened as I put myself together for the day. Stories and experiences of others gave a glimmer of hope to a new business owner in the year 2020. I took a deep breath and walked out the door to begin another day.

Underrated skill: Learn to suffer in silence. 99% of your problems will never happen. The other .5% you can't control anyway.

Choosing a romantic partner isn’t just about the romance—you’re also choosing a confidant, counselor, career advisor, therapist, investor, teacher, travel buddy, roommate, best friend, and business partner. Choose wisely.

Most people don't understand that your own opinion is what matters most. Winners prioritize self-respect over respect from others.

I met a guy who built an HVAC business to $20 million a year. I asked him what makes it such a good business. “When it’s 90 degrees out and the AC is broken, there is only 1 thing people think about. Everything else is secondary.”

The best entrepreneurs are the best at managing emotions. Business is messy. Feelings get hurt. People get heated, greedy, excited and emotional, then end up making poor decisions. The best leaders are able to keep a level head and make good decision after good decision under pressure.

“The glass wall” analogy is to help soften the judgements of your past and live in the present. It silences the noise without killing the memory completely. It allows for separation without detachment. It brings new perspective without the story attached previously.

Take all the garbage you have been through in your life and place it on the other side of a glass wall in your mind. Close your eyes and picture it. The glass wall separating you from not so ideal situations of the past.

Let it sit there and notice yourself on the other side of the wall. You are free. It happened and you can look back on it if you need to occasionally but there is no need to stand in that space. It’s of the past. It only comes with you if you let it.

Your mind is sneaky. You must be smarter than it.

Met a guy who spent his career buying struggling car dealerships. He would turn them around and sell them. He did 4 of them in a 3 yr span at his peak. Met him when he had flown in on his private jet for his sons graduation. Why are tech startups so sexy again?
