I worked as an edit assistant on this a little while back, and it’s my first professional credit!

I've always wondered why Torchwood, a BBC Three show with presumably considerably less money was shot in HD in 2006 but Doctor Who wasn't until 2009?
There is a reason why the 2005-2009 Doctor Who was shot in standard definition instead of HD. It would have cost 15% more per episode, and Russell T Davies chose not to do it. When he realized the mistake he made, his only response was, Oops!

“Wouldn’t have an episode in a car” Says the man who wrote Gridlock and Midnight…? TARDIS scenes can be brilliant, but both his eras have TARDISes that you don’t particularly want to watch characters talk in. There’s no 360 degree aspect so movement is limited for a start.
Russell T Davies : "The scenes inside the Tardis are flim flam. I just want them to be there and step out, you wouldn't have an episode in a car either" Meanwhile scenes in the Tardis:

Gonna try and get back into Big Finish now there’s no telly Who to look forward to. Started this box set on my way to work this morning, pretty good opener, hope it carries on being good.

It's never not annoyed me that Moffat ends the 'Last of the Time Lords' arc in *2013*, three years into his run, and then Chibnall destroys Gallifrey again and Russell does exactly the same thing with the Doctor as a character as he did in 2005.
Moffat’s era ends with the Doctor’s traumas healed, his struggle with who he is resolves with a powerful core thesis statement, there’s no baggage left from the revival. His successors were given carte blanche to do something new and both sadly amounted to “Make it 2006 again!”

Because he becomes 15…? So we already did.
Wait……… I think I have just realised a way that they could maintain the show’s continuity if they wanted to, whilst never needing to revisit what happens with Billie’s character…..👀 Why don’t we follow the timeline from the 14th Doctor?

You can tell he didn’t leave on good terms because he doesn’t say he enjoyed his time or thank the BBC or Bad Wolf. Just rambles on about how silly the fans are for expecting something they were informed was happening.

WBY is good but does feel a bit like ground already tread in Midnight which is ironic as this isn’t the Midnight sequel in this era. Boom is fine but nowhere near any of Moffat’s greats, it’s good amongst its peers. TSATE I just can’t get into.
It’s kind of remarkable that from 2023 on, there are only 3 episodes that really stand as highlights that aren’t highly conditional. Even more telling that, despite the high density of RTD penned episodes, only one of them is on that list.

RTD has never been the King of writing - on any show, and the sooner people realise that the better
Honestly, I don't blame Russell. We've seen War Between. TipToe. He is GOOD. He is the KING of writing BBC, Disney, small budgets. 8 episodes a year. This is Beethoven trying to write a concerto while he has 5 voices changing every note It's not a situation that works

Not that I watch it but what happens to online content like the Whoniverse show now? That was filmed at Bad Wolf wasn't it?

Appeared in only 16 episodes
So this very expensive TARDIS set that hasn’t been properly used for over a year will probably be dismantled soon 😭

They really are changing everything and I'm totally here for it! I'd love a new version of the theme tune but I bet they're too scared to do that.
