Enjoyed speaking with @Freakonomics about the opportunities in an ageing world. We hear too many negative narratives but societies can thrive if we adapt. freakonomics.com/podcast/are… #aging #longevity #futureofwork #healthspan

Delighted to have written this piece with Peter Piot for @IMFNews: Investing in human & social capital in later life is key to turning longer lives into an opportunity—not a crisis. Demography isn’t destiny. Policy must adapt. imf.org/en/Publications/fand…

The Longevity Imperative explores how we must adapt to an aging society—individually and collectively. Now in paperback: amzn.eu/d/9POdtZs. This Atlantic piece by Jonathan Rauch dives into why it matters: bit.ly/4aWoVJz

We have reframed an ageing population wrongly. The Longevity Imperative argues it's a triumph of the 20th century—and a major 21st-century opportunity. Now out in paperback: amzn.eu/d/3OntzqG. Great FT review by Stephen Cave: ft.com/content/95480867-9ae2…

We are always told that age is just a number which raises the question – what number? How do we measure ageing and how ‘old’ someone is? Great to see @sarahoconnor_ @FT tackle this issue in her article ft.com/content/7b2113fe-d5a8… Cited work w/ Rainer Kotschy & @DavidEBloom

Episode 2238: Andrew J. Scott explains how to age with grace and wisdom, by @ajkeen open.substack.com/pub/keenon… Can one age with grace and wisdom? Yes, according to Andrew J. Scott, author of the Longevity Imperative, one of the six books on the Financial Times’ illustrious short list for best business books of the year . For Scott, aging in the 21st century requires a sharp shift in both personal and public policy attitudes to “old age”. No, we can’t live forever, he reminds us, but we do need to make the necessary social, political and economic adjustments to enable us to enjoy the increasingly longer lives most of us now take for granted. Rather than medicalizing old age, he argues, we need to normalize it so that its a central feature of, rather than an epilogue to, the good life. Wise words from one of the world’s leading authorities on aging.
