I wrote 2,000 words about the fishiness of the NFL’s latest scandal for our newspaper here in Knoxville. The more I hear and read about this story, I find it forcing us to ask questions of the whole sports/media industrial complex.

A random observation that I swear has nothing to do with other former Eagles: shoutout to @bigplay24slay: a former all pro, Super Bowl winner, who left with grace and humility, tried to force a trade back to the Birds, and is constantly praising the team on socials.

It might or might not come out, but it truly feels like the Eagles were asking for a first round pick, the Patriots were offering a third round… everyone thought they would meet in the middle to have it be a second round pick (what Dianna Russini kept saying what the trade will probably be)…
Then after the Russini-Vrabel thing happened the Eagles and Patriots probably came together to get something close to what the Eagles wanted to avoid a tampering case just like the Eagles did with the Cardinals for Gannon.
Patriots lose out on value but save their head coach from an investigation as well as landing the player they wanted.

I look at Sirianni in a better light too. I was already someone who defended him (I see the value in player coaches), but he helped keep the team together through all of that nonsense too.
