READ ALL ABOUT IT: Jim Jordan was a major co-conspirator in Trump's effort to mount a coup. Yet it's not an issue in the speakership race. @dfriedman33 & I have all the ugly details. motherjones.com/politics/202… Jim Jordan Tried to Help Trump Mount a Coup. Now He Gets To Be Speaker?

if "American politics" were broken, we'd have seen things like this happen when Democrats controlled the House but we didn't what's broken, very specifically, is the Republican Party

Breaking news for Law & Society Review! (@law_soc) We are no longer counting references against the word limit. Moving forward, the new word limit is 12,500 for the main text (exclusive of references, appendices, and tables). No more trimming citations to fit the word count!

Real quick, let’s talk about WEST VIRGINIA. Mountaineers playing Pitt in Morgantown tonight on ABC. Juiced up crowd, beautiful night for football. Looks sold out. Answers the question of why universities have athletics departments, right? 1/

I'm seeing a lot here about General Motors CEO Mary Barra after her disastrous CNN interview. Barra raked in $29 million last year as GM CEO. But I want to lift up a few more things about Barra, and how she represents the billionaire class more than people might even realize 🧵

It doesn't hurt to remind people that Desantis opposed Sandy relief when he was in Congress tampabay.com/florida-politic… Relief should not be partisan grandstanding. It was wrong when Desantis, Cruse, and others did it and it would be wrong now. But let's not forget Desantis sucks
Again a reporter tries to get Biden to make disaster relief partisan and use the moment to denounce DeSantis. Again he refuses to be divisive, focusing instead on the disaster relief itself, while praising DeSantis' help in planning and Sen. Rick Scott's (R-FL) efforts throughout

Car crashes are just behind guns as the second greatest killer of US children. In fact, just taking a walk outside is becoming dangerous: about 7,508 pedestrians were killed by cars last year, the highest number since 1981 and a massive increase over the last decade. vox.com/23784549/pedestrian-…

Conveniently, Mark Graber has a new book out demonstrating that most of the framers of the 14th Amendment thought that Section 3 was more important than Section 1 kansaspress.ku.edu/978070063…
It’s… not a “novel legal theory,” it’s a 155-year-old constitutional provision that explicitly disqualifies people from federal office, and which a bunch of prominent conservative legal theorists believe applies squarely to Trump.

Wait -- APSA negotiated a no-cost severance strike clause and...just decided not to use it? Or even look into it? Yikes
From today's #APSA bus. meeting: -Contract betw/ APSA & JW Marriott/other struck hotels had a no-cost sever clause if strike occurs. -I asked "What would have cost to only sever contracts with Marriott & other @UNITEHERE11 struck hotels: Answer from Exec. Dir.: "We don't know."

i forgot to comment on this but it is very funny that after making “the kids should pass a civics test to vote” his thing, vivek immediately gets the easiest possible question about us history — which came first, the revolution or the constitution — wrong.
24 Aug 2023
Maybe pedantic but Vivek talking about how "the US Constitution was what won us the American Revolution" is wildly wrong The Constitution, of course, was written in 1787 -- more than a decade after the Revolution started, in 1775. Totally different historical events
