The point about New York fans actually being what we imagine Philly fans to be is not wrong.
Knicks fans are once again doing the thing… Feels like literally every single home game we get a video like this. This one is the worst one I’ve seen yet. Good hell, man. Again, New York fans are what people think Philly fans are. This sucks so much 🗑️

This motherfucker ran a solid kingdom and I think some acknowledgement of that is overdue. Low crime, clean streets, quality monarch.

Good advice for undergrads, MA students, PhD candidates, junior/senior faculty, and just about everyone else.
People often ask me how to read for comprehension and retention. My answer is always: read slowly and attentively, take notes by hand, and then, once you're done, review those notes to draw connections you couldn't when you didn't yet have the full picture.

I have a theory that @ChadSteingraber and @heythereRich are actually one and the same. Says the guy using one of the most famous alter egos in movie history.

To be honest, “wake and bake” is my best hope right now for getting through undergrad essays without filing academic integrity violation after academic integrity violation

Maybe the world as we know it really did end when the Cubs won the World Series. Trump was elected a week later, and nothing’s really been the same since.

A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27: “It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young. At 26, I thought I had time… To fall in love. Start a family. Grow old. But cancer doesn’t care about plans. Now, I understand how fragile life really is. Every single day is a gift, not a guarantee. I’m not writing this to scare you. I’m writing to remind you: really live. Stop stressing over little things. Be kind to your body- move it, nourish it, stop criticizing it. One day you’ll wish you had appreciated it. Go outside. Look at the sky. Feel the sun. Just be. Spend less time chasing “stuff” - more time making memories. Don’t skip moments with people you love. Laugh more. Write a note. Tell someone you love them. Complain less. Give more. Helping others brings more joy than anything you can buy. Be present. Put your phone down. Show up - really show up. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need a perfect body, or a perfect life. Just follow what makes your heart light up. Say no to what drains you. Make changes when you need to. And please - donate blood. I wouldn’t have had that extra year without it. And that year gave me memories I’ll hold close… forever. Thank you for reading this. Live your life well. And maybe… we’ll meet again someday.” Holly 🩷 Repost & share Holly’s important advice. ❤️

We really did fall victim to one of the classic blunders. And now some of my current/former students - the bruhs who thought Trump was cool or didn’t like Harris or just never thought he’d adversely affect *their* lives - may get drafted and sent to Iran. I’m so sad for them.

We want you to be the best department you can be, paying below regional averages and with a high teaching load that minimizes the time available for research.

Prediction: the most intelligent people - the best writers, artists, musicians, doctors, lawyers and engineers - will go back to doing their core work with pencil and paper, as it becomes inarguable that reliance on computers withers the brain.

do any other professors have the sense that if they were to merely... reply to emails and student inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner, that it would take fully 40 hours of a work week that is supposed to be 40/10/40% research/service/teaching?

If I wanted to discuss things in secret I wouldn’t use Signal I’d have the conversation on MSNBC in Primetime.

So, fellow #FAssets participants: I have some data to share about my experience with minting/redeeming FXRP via FAssets so far. This afternoon I created a spreadsheet listing every minting/redeeming transaction I've made since the system opened. (There's no way to download it, so I had to do manual data entry.) Screencap of the top of the Excel sheet is attached. To date I have minted 96 FXRP lots and redeemed 96 FXRP lots. Each redemption has cost me 0.5 XRP, for total redemption costs of 48 XRP. *Most* mints have cost me 1.0 XRP, but a few times (especially in the last 24 hours) I've absent-mindedly accepted mints with 5.0 XRP fees (I've done this three times) and 3.0 XRP fees (I've done this once). Caveat emptor on these. I also have a couple mints where the fee was 1.25 XRP. My total minting costs have been 112 XRP. That means my total investment so far in the #FAssets testing has been 160 of my own XRP. At the XRP market price (~$2.22 as I write this), we're looking at ~$355 "invested" in the test. I think that's more than enough participation for now, honestly, especially with the unclear rFLR rewards picture. I'm gonna sit on my hands now and see what the rFLR rewards look like come 12/30. If, twelve months from now, the fully-vested value of that rFLR is not sufficient to re-purchase at least 160 XRP, I will be...displeased. But...I have still faith in what @HugoPhilion is building, both the canary network and the main Flare network, and thus I'm comfortable being in wait-and-see mode.

Actually, I forgot about the $SGB costs for each lot minted. At 96 lots (see initial tweet above), figure that's another $100 invested. So, I have ~$455 (given current asset values) invested in the first two-week testing window - and awaiting rFLR rewards on 12/30.

December 30, 2024 update: So, my rFLR rewards for the first two-week period were 22,616 rFLR, or ~$570 at the current FLR price of $0.02533. Again, I "invested" 160 $XRP (current value = ~$330) and about 10,000 $SGB (current value = ~$82). So, ~$412 in, ~$570 out👍🏻👍🏻 #Flare

Just noticed that I haven’t received any rewards from wrapping my $FLR since December 17th; usually I’d get them ~2x/week. Did I miss some recent change in the structure of $FLR rewards?
