Great podcast intro to current intersections of religion and AI. If you want to know more about the history of godlike AI, tech immortality, AI emotions, and agent-detection models of the divine (and AI), see my Apocalyptic AI, Futures of AI, and Futureproofing Humanity. :)

There are exactly zero tests that would measure AGI (i.e., human equivalence in a computer). Prove me wrong.

Just a few thoughts. Because we need to get going. Happy to see things like the recent effort by @FLI_org also. Lots of folks coming around to think about how we can build better for a better future.

Here, AI and Faith member Robert Geraci offers some of his latest thoughts and pushes back “by (a) revealing the essential religiosity of the Singularity and (b) offering a few values from elsewhere around the world.” aiandfaith.org/insights/glob…

I'm talking #books at the MythMonstersAndTech instagram acct. If you're looking for a time capsule of 1990s tech culture, and maybe a book to reinvigorate your faith in a worthwhile #tech future ... this might be it. Follow on instagram for more. @rudytheelder @2000_mondo

It would be exciting if @OUPAcademic would - in this era of interest in AI, AGI, promises and dangers - return my book Apocalyptic AI to affordability. The $35 ebook = oppressive. So is $50 paperback, but the ebook is especially so. The book had an impact, it could have more.

Since this post, the price has gone UP by 20%. It is now $42. There is no logic in #academic #publishing.

I know this is narcissistic, but I'm getting very irritated with all the people shouting that "AI = religion" and "Silicon Valley = religion" and pretend like they were the first to notice these dynamics.

Religious faith is powerful, and gets us these claims. The chatbots are better, but we're no closer to a Singularity than we were when I wrote Apocalyptic AI fifteen years ago. But, like Jesus, superintelligent AGI is always just around the corner! technologyreview.com/2026/04…

I wrote Futureproofing Humanity to expose bad narratives behind technology and to help us toward better ones. We must resist profiteering and powermongering in favor of a better world. amazon.com/Futureproofing-Hu…
This is your periodic reminder of what kind of person Sam Altman is. And the kind of safety work happening at OpenAI, one of the companies building the most transformative and dangerous technology of human history.

Uggh. This kind of thing is dumb enough with other CEOs. With S.A. it's just infinite profiteering nonsense. garymarcus.substack.com/p/ce…

Sam Altman told you so: "We're going to see 10 person billion-dollar companies pretty soon. In my little group chat with CEO-friends, there's this One-person billion-dollar company, which would have been unimaginable without AI, and now it'll happen."
