This was Nigeria's first ever defence export.
Chad turned to Nigeria's Proforce for MRAPs after South Africa's Denel failed to fulfill a 2017 contract for 40 armored vehicles.
Denel was unable to deliver on the 2017 deal to supply 40 military vehicles despite Chad having paid a $6.1 million deposit, resulting in potential international legal threats. Chad then contracted Proforce for 20 of its Ara-2 MRAPS, which were delivered ahead of schedule.
