Britain's first official Overdose Prevention Centre opens in Glasgow this morning. I am grateful to everyone who has worked for many years to realise this.
5 years ago, I volunteered with @PeteKrykant_OPC to start the UK's first unofficial overdose prevention pilot.
I said at the time, "At a street level, if it saves one person from contracting HIV or dying from an overdose, then it will have been worthwhile."
We supervised 894 injections, reversed 9 overdoses, and saved 8 lives.
Whilst it is not a universal remedy for Scotland’s drug death emergency, it will save lives and it will be a place where extremely marginalised people can get the help they need.
I wish the team every success.

Today is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, a time to honour those that have experienced violence or been killed during the year, and to call for the decriminalisation of sex work to protect and fulfil sex workers' human rights.
