Yeah, it’s well produced and everything, but like, where are the Sara Golemons and the @zuzana_kunckova’s who’ve help build both the language and the community? PHP prides itself as being welcoming and inclusive, so… maybe we should be loud and excited about **everyone’s** contributions? I hope the actual documentary pays proper tribute to **all** of the people responsible for this language’s success
We just dropped a little teaser for an upcoming film... The film tells the story of PHP, a language that was never meant to become what it is today, told by the people who shaped it. Expect the full film later this year. youtu.be/4W4y46WVdCU Featuring: Nils Adermann (Composer) @naderman Taylor Otwell (Laravel) @taylorotwell @laravelphp Nikita Popov (PHP Core) @nikita_ppv Fabien Potencier (Symfony) @fabpot @symfony Roman Pronskiy (The PHP Foundation) @pronskiy @ThePHPF Brent Roose (JetBrains) @brendt_gd @phpstorm @jetbrains ....and more.... @jetbrains is supporting us to make this film. Thanks to the team there!

We wrapped a client contract this previous week, and that lead to us discussing internally about just how much stuff we've shipped this past year.

There’s some hidden risks to ‘stable’ software. Learn from our mistakes
A stable web app that you never have to touch should be the dream. But most of us only ever update our apps when we have to actually work on them. Those apps that just hum away happilly, leaving you alone for months at a time might be infested with vulnerabilities.

Ed and I rely on our artisan-build/fat-enums package in nearly every project we work on. If you want to know why, then keep an eye out for this one
Ed is talking Fat Enums at the Laravel Denmark meetup in Copenhagen tomorrow. The short version: most devs use Enums as constants. Fat Enums carry behaviour too and that distinction matters. More on this after the talk. meetup.com/laravel-cph/event…

Maybe the real consciousness was the tokens we made along the way
I have discovered a truly marvelous way to make my AI conscious, but I have run out of tokens.

I have a completed rfc ready to go, but I'm feeling overwhelmed by the number of steps needed to get it considered. Does anyone have a link to some literal step by step guide on getting your rfc submitted so that I can overcome my executive disfunction here?
My very first #RFC was accepted unanimously for the next version of #PHP! See you in PHP 8.6 👋 php.watch/rfcs/pack-unpack-e…

The problem these changes solve weren’t obvious to me at first, but TJ is doing some really good work here. This system is so well thought out

My quick and dirty video on how easy it is to build an AI agent got onto Daniels weekly top 10 Laravel Posts list this week! Cool!
Welcome to another fantastic Friday filled with Laravel and PHP discoveries! This week brings us incredible performance optimisations, essential developer tool updates, and production-ready caching strategies that will supercharge your applications. In 🥇 place this week is @brendt_gd with his mind-blowing follow-up on database processing optimisation. Building on last week's work, Brent has achieved a staggering improvement from 50k to 1.7 million events per second using combined inserts, moving calculations to PHP, and fine-tuning queries. This deep dive into practical performance techniques is essential reading for any Laravel developer working with database-heavy operations. t.ly/ZAguK In 🥈 place this week is @barryvdh announcing Laravel Debugbar v4.0, a major release that modernises this beloved development tool. With over 118 million downloads, this update brings modern JavaScript (goodbye jQuery!), better performance, enhanced Inertia and Livewire support, HTTP client monitoring, and dark mode. As a tool we use daily at Jump24, we're thrilled to see these improvements that make debugging even more efficient. t.ly/HcVuf In 🥉 place this week is @ericlbarnes sharing insights on supercharging Laravel applications with Cloudflare page caching. In this video discussion with Laravel Shift Creator @gonedark , they explore how even well-cached applications can achieve massive performance gains through strategic Cloudflare implementation. It's a perfect complement to Jason's comprehensive video series at fastlaravel.com for production optimisation strategies. t.ly/JlAQX 🥇 @brendt_gd - Once again processing 11 million rows, now in seconds - t.ly/ZAguK 🥈 @barryvdh - Laravel Debugbar v4 release - t.ly/HcVuf 🥉 @ericlbarnes - Speeding Up Laravel News With Cloudflare - t.ly/JlAQX 4️⃣ @jackmcdade - Statamic 6 - t.ly/O26ZV 5️⃣ Markus Staab - PHPStan on steroids - t.ly/qIcbF 6️⃣ Sepehr Mohseni - MySQL Performance Tuning: From Slow Queries to Lightning-Fast Database - t.ly/TGjSl 7️⃣ @RmeetsH - How to deprecate PHP code without breaking your users - t.ly/Yv4kg 8️⃣ @ryangjchandler - Quickly deploy your Forge site from the terminal - t.ly/qVWeD 9️⃣ @freekmurze - How to automatically generate a commit message using Claude - t.ly/egNU9 🔟 @ProjektGopher - I built an agentic programmer using Laravel Prompts as a demo for a talk on async php. - t.ly/7ph6W Thanks again for reading/watching this weeks post, I hope there was something that caught your eye and you enjoy. I built an agentic programmer using Laravel Prompts as a demo for a talk on async php. The secret sauce behind ClaudeCode, OpenCode, GeminiCli, Codex, etc is just the interface. The actual agent is shockingly simple, and you can do it using standard http requests in a loop.

I started this thing as a demo for a talk I gave like a year ago, then had to set it aside due to client work. So happy it’s finally finished and working! See you all in a couple days!
Going to be hosting my first @laravelnews live stream next Monday around 1 PM EDT with @ProjektGopher talking about his newest project! 🎉

If you're able to attend, but just need a ticket, get on it
I won't be able to attend Laracon this year. I'll really miss being there, (especially the inaugural Mostly Technical meetup w/@aarondfrancis ) but it's just not in the cards for me this year. That being said, if anyone wants to snag my ticket (for free), DM me! 🎟️

Hey everyone, @MaybeEdward and I had planned on doing the draw for our extra @LaraconUS community bundle ticket today, but I had to go to the hospital to get my gallbladder removed instead. You've got one more day to go to laravel.recipes and register
