Karmelo Anthony wasn't a coward. He was outnumbered and approached aggressively. He defended himself.
That's exactly what Daniel Penny did. Penny's weapon was his Marine combat training. Karmelo's was a knife.
You celebrated one. You condemned the other.
If a smaller white Austin had defended himself against a bigger Black aggressor under that tent — conservative America would call him a hero. They'd celebrate defeating the Black Bully.
You know it. I know it.
"Honor" is not a standard we apply equally in this country. The fact that you're applying it selectively to a Black teenager now serving 35 years is the part I can't let slide.
I detest double standards more than I detest cowards.
I don't see Karmelo as a coward anymore than you saw Penny as one.
