Thank you to the @eucopresident for hosting us and for devoting significant time on housing. Our Mayors for Housing initiative is helping EU institutions to push forward with a comprehensive housing policy and legislation that will benefit EU citizens and our cities. Nicosia is proud to be participating in this initiative. We have a big responsibility towards current and future generations to ensure housing is addressed as a fundamental human right and as a key tool to enhance EU competitiveness.

This event was funded by the EU as part of the YOUTH-CARES program. The initiative seeks to enhance solidarity, promote social inclusion, and foster environmental protection by emphasising the role of young people as catalysts for change.

The public was informed by the panellists of decisions and measures taken regarding the urban regeneration of the city & the bicommunal environmental coordination under the auspices of the Tech.Cmte. on the Environment.

Moderated by our Events Officer, Ms. Konstantina Zakou, the audience was presented with a set of interventions and presentations reflecting on current challenges affecting sustainability in the Nicosia urban area, as well as forecasts and climate prognosis for our capital.

On Friday, 3 April, Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY and the Cyprus Youth Council hosted the “Greening Nicosia: From Vision to Implementation” panel discussion. Organised with the intention of bringing the young people to the vision of a sustainable and endurable Nicosia. 🍃
