I love the deep theory but having rough frameworks to think big picture and seeing things in real life before tackling all the details and math really helps me a lot. My attempt at putting hard-won signals stuff into cool hands-on experiments: youtube.com/watch?v=iL5ylKrs…

Why, yes, I do want to play! Really sweet work with the FPGA breakout and SNES controller
Want to play? 😋 A game purely written in verilog. Games are basically state machines, which is a great fit for verilog and FPGA architecture.

Amazing @hackaday europe, in Lecco. @tinytapeout team meet (nothing like inperson), time with @mithro, old friends and new, even met some really cool guy with a swiss accent. Thanks to all who came for making it so awesome!

Made it to Lecco, Italy, with the @tinytapeout team for @hackaday Europe, starting tomorrow. If you're here, say hi (and come to the workshop!)

Deep (deep!) dive into NR , a new protocol, tech and band available for IoT. I really like the RF that makes it go, and think this gives a good look at what's under the hood, on top of some actual real world use and characterization of this open standard youtube.com/watch?v=OPA3La9N…

A new band & technology: license-free IoT just leveled up! Spectrum reserved for baby monitors and cordless phones is now ours to play with--I took a look at NR and it sits nicely between LoRa and WiFi, to give you speed, range and low latency. Full investigation coming @ youtube.com/@PsychogenicTech…

Data... from SPACE! Received our very first chunks of results from my spasics module we sent up to LEO with a @tinytapeout ASIC aboard the HUNITY pocketqube. This is temp sensor data from the RP2040 used to command and control the experiments. All data sent/rcvd at github.com/psychogenic/spasi…

If I'm parsing the results right (the sensor experiment was by Mike Bell), these temperatures aren't all that bad--about -40 to 50C--considering the module is out there in naked on an arm extended out in vacuum.

Starting off the new year nice and easy: first pass at the info leaflet for the new version of the Tiny Tapeout demoboards.

Merry Christmas! I'm so grateful to all of you making up the open hardware and software community, sharing all your wonderful discoveries and creations. May these days be filled with cheer, family/friends, cozy vibes and maybe a little personal project time :)

Last deliveries before some holiday downtime: this guy's another way to easily let us swap out ASICs and FPGAs, and uses riffpga to have drag & drop UF2 FPGA bitstream programming :) Happy solstice!

FYI, these were done under my "open source discount", meaning once the project is delivered and finalized, everything will be open hardware and software.

Everything is made of physiks!1! My antenna was sharply tuned, to the WRONG FREQUENCY... Electrically longer than the metal--on purpose--thanks to the permittivity of the PLA, but by a bit much. So destructive tuning to the rescue: butt ugly now, but works! Right on 437MHz :)

Had some new friends over, today... oof! Was evacuated a few hours: everything's fine, here... next door wasn't so lucky. Got me rethinking go-bags, backups and evac plans. Thanks to the fire and police depts, and red cross: professional, courteous and got the job done.

Oh, my old ender 3? Nah, I don't need to maintain or calibrate that thing, every few months I just throw whatever at it and it'll be fine.

Wow! One giant leap for open source ASICs !! Deployment in 30 minutes or so, but it is done: the @tinytapeout spasics module is up there! W0000000T!!!! Thanks @SpaceX and @AlbaOrbital for getting us this far, anxious to see the pocketqube tumbling out into orbit :)
