We buried our son today. We enter a new phase of grief now. Thank you, everyone - for everything. Here is Frankie's eulogy as promised. Also, a google doc link too, in case the screenshots are annoying: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney

Everyone who reads fictional narratives that are shorter than the ones I read and calls them novels is cheating. Everyone who reads longer fictional narratives is showing off. Only I know exactly how long a novel should be

Feels like I can only write in short vignettes of late. Hoping I can get into something longer soon, but for now journaling/vignettes of autofiction is all I got.

Visited my son's grave for the first time in awhile. The plaque for him was covered in dirt and had some some grass growing over. Distressing - but also opens up how the “groundskeeping” in cemeteries are only concerned with the height of grass and disposing of dead flowers.

This is just every hollywood movie. Like it's all of them. Even most of the shows that people trot out as examples of Dark and Gritty fiction end in ways that affirm the moral worldview of the average audience member.

Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Honestly, poor people deserve more than basic needs. They deserve manicures. They deserve desserts. They deserve name brand shoes. They deserve add guac. They deserve 70 inch TVs. They deserve kitchen aid stand mixers. They deserve lattes, every day.
what’s your unpopular opinion ??

the pope—deeply suspicious of thinking machines—is cultivating desert power. it's happening out of order but it's happening.
Replying to @Pontifex
The sea and the desert have been places of mutual enrichment among peoples and cultures for millennia. Woe to us if we turn them into graveyards where even hope dies! Let us free these tremendous reservoirs of history and the future from evil! Let us denounce and remove causes for despair, and let us oppose those who profit from the misfortune of others!

For @thedrift_mag, I went long on the regime of images under Trump 2. In which I try to make sense of the penguin, Cowboy Kristi, the TPUSA halftime show, Sound of Freedom, Steve Lockjaw, and much more thedriftmag.com/into-the-rig…
