Your safety and wellbeing are our top priority. That's why the University campus will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday 27 January, due to the amber weather warning across Northern Ireland.   Where appropriate and possible, teaching will move online for our students and your School or Centre will be in touch to let you know about the arrangements in your area.   Where necessary, some staff will continue to work on campus to carry out crucial roles, delivering and supporting essential services.   Student support services will be available remotely and Queen's Accommodation will remain open as normal. The McClay Library will close from 7.00am on Tuesday morning but aims to reopen at 9.00pm that evening.   See you back on campus soon!

We have started construction on the expanded Momentum One Zero innovation centre, our business-led facility focused on #cybersecurity, #ArtificialIntelligence and #wireless technologies. Delivered as part of the £70 million Belfast Region City Deal investment, @QUBMomentum10 will act as a focal point for industry-led digital innovation, supporting collaboration across sectors including health, agri-food, financial services, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. We were joined on site by key representatives from government, civic, academic, and industry to cut the sod at Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. “Momentum One Zero is a clear example of how Queen’s is turning research excellence into economic impact. This expansion reflects the scale of ambition we have for digital innovation in #NorthernIreland — supporting high-value jobs, strengthening our skills base, and ensuring that businesses here can compete and lead on a global stage.” (Professor Sir Ian Greer, @QUBVChancellor) Find out more here ➡️ ow.ly/RyG950Y0476 #LoveQUB | #BRCityDeal | #CityDeal | @QUBCityDeal | @belfastcc | @Economy_NI

Our experts are part of a multi-agency group using a linked up approach to produce cutting-edge, policy-relevant research to help improve lives and deliver community change. Administrative Data Research NI (ADR NI) combines expertise from both Queen’s University Belfast and @UlsterUni, with data and research specialists from Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (@NISRA). ADR NI has now secured a major investment to allow it to continue this vital, ground-breaking work until 2031. “We are delighted to receive this support to build on our work for the next five years. To date, we have produced significant outputs which have helped to shape key areas of policy and service provision and with this renewed investment we can continue to work closely with our stakeholders to identify and amplify crucial areas of research to support the people of Northern Ireland.” (Dr Aideen Maguire, ADR NI Co-Director, and Reader in Social Epidemiology, @CPH_QUB). It's a welcome return to the Seamus Heaney Centre for its latest postdoctoral Fellowships for 2026. Emma Devlin and Matthew Rice have been announced as the Ciaran Carson Writing and the City Fellows, and Marcella L.A. Prince as the new Publishing Fellow. All three have previously completed their PhDs in the Centre. “As graduates of the PhD programme, Marcella L.A. Prince, Emma Devlin and Matthew Rice are no strangers to the Seamus Heaney Centre, but it is with great delight, and anticipation, that we welcome them back as Fellows. "We look forward very much to working with them, and to all that they will bring to the life of the Centre, the School, and the city.” (Professor Glenn Patterson, Director of the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s). Our researchers are playing a key role in the first all-island #MentalHealth research network. The new five-year project has been set up to progress understanding of mental health in areas such as youth mental health, ADHD in adults, women’s mental health, and loneliness in older people.  “It will bring together researchers, people who have experience of mental health problems, family members, service providers and policy makers. "It has an important focus on how we can promote mental health and prevent mental health problems, as well as on developing more effective services.” (Professor Gavin Davidson, Praxis Chair of Social Care, from @QUBSSESW) Read the full story here ➡️ ow.ly/37aG50XXf2f #LoveQUBResearch | #ResearchEvidenceAction | @QUBPsych | @QUBMedEd | @CPH_QUB | @QUBSONM | @hrbireland

We are delighted to receive the honour of being listed as a participant for the Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Education: USA Exchange 2026. The flagship programme will bring eight UK universities to Washington DC to advance transatlantic academic collaboration. It is designed to provide opportunities for new partnerships between UK and US universities and colleges that will have a beneficial legacy in the long term. Queen’s was awarded a Prize in 2015 for @CSIT_QUB. During the Exchange Queen’s will be partnering with @Northeastern University’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute to advance research, education, and international collaboration in #cybersecurity and #AI. “We are truly delighted to be selected for this prestigious Queen Elizabeth Prize for Education, as the highest honour for universities.
