Last night I went and implemented font variation support in mplcairo, using all the builtin capabilities of Cairo and FreeType: github.com/matplotlib/mplcai… This example replicates the pattern from the recently announced Mona Sans/Hubot Sans site from @github

Also, video compression kills the fonts on thin weights and/or if you scale up the video, so don't @ me about the render quality.

And the fonts in question that inspired working on this, also because of @story645 x.com/tobiasahlin/status/159…

Today we're releasing two variable open source fonts from @GitHub, Mona Sans and Hubot Sans. We use them in production, and now you can use them too. github.com/mona-sans

While I don't love how it works, managed to get the Transparency plugin working again in @impidgin 3 against @GTKtoolkit 4.

Last week, @impidgin made it to @GTKtoolkit 4. Now it's time to refresh the preference pages (some parts still a bit WIP.)

After a ton of work most of it from @QuLogic we have the Pidgin 3 development tree running in GTK4!! There's still a ton of work to do to yet, but after 6 months of work, it compiles and runs!!

With lots and lots of `# if 0`, I have a compiling-and-running @impidgin on GTK 4. Much is broken though (like several menus). Let's see if we can get this committed in @rw_grim's stream tomorrow.

Oh, @Bell Mobility has an option to block data access. BUT, it can only be applied to lines that already have a data plan. So if you accidentally leave data on, you'll only find out that you were charged Pay-per-use rates ($130/GB!) when you get your bill or the $50 CRTC warning.
