The King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) is officially being dissolved. All it took was: ❌$533 Million dollars in taxpayer funds ❌$44 Million in the red ❌$13 Million simply gone, unaccounted for ❌5 CEO's ❌5 years of continued failures ❌A registered sex offender board member nominee ❌Missed payments to service providers ❌A $12 BILLION request for funds ❌Accusations of retaliation against staff And finally... ❌A nearly 50% increase in homelessness @AlejandraG_TV | @fox13seattle 'King County Council votes to dissolve homeless authority' Article: fox13seattle.com/news/king-c…

Very good thread that goes beyond the headlines ($8M unaccounted for) to detail how comprehensively damning the KCRHA audit findings are. The utter lack of fiscal controls is insane for an agency handling hundreds of millions in public money. And this wasn’t just birthing pains - the audit finds serious fiscal oversight deficiencies continuing to the present. We also get into many of these details on the latest @RealSeattleNice. As ECB points out, it’s not just the overspending and losing track of millions of dollars. It also seems like federal dollars granted for one purpose may have been misspent on other things - that could well jeopardize future federal grant monies, or potentially even lead the feds to claw back previous grants (which would be disastrous). The exposure here is real, and serious. And as she evocatively and accurately says, “they were operating the agency like a payday loan company,” routinely paying out dollars in advance of receiving them. The whole thing is mind-boggling.
A forensic audit of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority dropped this week. Most coverage is leading with $13 million in unaccounted public funds. That number matters. But the audit itself says something more important, and worse. /1

An affordable place to call home means dignity, stability, and opportunity—and Copperleaf Northgate delivers all three. @RDembowski was there earlier today to celebrate the opening of this new 235-unit affordable housing community, expanding access to safe, stable housing for @KingCountyWA. Props to @ExecZahilay and all the partners who made it happen. This is what progress looks like.

Local officials responded quickly and are working on repairs to the levee breach from this morning in King County. No one was injured, the evacuation area has been refined to a smaller area, and we're expecting the repairs to take several hours. Check KCemergency.com for updates. The situation remains extremely unpredictable across our state. Please continue following guidance from local officials.

Information from NWS Seattle: In coordination with King County, we have issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for a levee breach in Tukwila WA near Todd, Blvd. Water is likely moving north towards I-405. In addition, an evacuation notice is now in effect from King County. This is for residents and businesses east of the green river in the Orillia area in Tukwila, Renton and Kent. Due to breach in the Desimone Levee, this area is under a GO NOW evacuation notice. Leave immediately if you are in this area. Conditions are dangerous and access routes may be lost at any time. Go north or south of evacuated area away from flooding waters. Do not drive or walk through standing or moving water. Turn around, don’t drown. Do not drive around barricades or road closures.

Toyota is up 8% on the news of a 15% tariff. Why? It's simple. Ford, GM, Tesla, and all the other American manufacturers are going to be paying 50% more for their steel, 50% more for their copper, 25% more for their Canadian production, 25% more for their Mexican production, and 55% on their Chinese production. Toyota only has to pay 15% more and they're done with all the shenanigans. Ford has to pay much more than that. A lot more in fact. We've given a Japanese car company an advantage over American car companies. All in hope of bringing auto jobs back to America. 0D Chess.

The facts matter. The people matter. The Senate’s Medicaid approach breaks promises and will kick people off of Medicaid who truly need it. The Senate can make one simple fix to make sure that won’t happen.
