You’re up, @oliviachow.
Our government is taking action to reduce building costs and speed up the construction of new homes through the Development Charge Reduction Program: a new, shared program with the federal government that will deliver $8.8 billion in funding towards housing-enabling infrastructure projects for municipalities that cut development charges by 30% or more. Along with the HST relief announced in Ontario’s 2026 budget, this program will help make homes across the province more affordable. 🔗news.ontario.ca/en/release/1… @RobFlackEML

Yesterday in #Ottawa, alongside Minister @gregorrobertson, Minister @PBethlenfalvy, Mayor @_MarkSutcliffe and many other municipal and homebuilding partners, we announced the opening of the Development Charge Reduction Program. This federal-provincial program will fund up to $8.8 billion in housing-enabling infrastructure and save Ontarians tens of thousands of dollars on the cost of a new home. 🏡 Together, we’re kickstarting the housing sector and protecting the dream of homeownership. Together, we’re protecting over 100,000 jobs. Together, we are taking action to Protect Ontario. #Housing

TD Economics' new report contains stark warning about Canada’s "silent brain drain" "The core challenge is not in attracting world-class talent, but in anchoring that talent within its borders to build, scale, and lead globally competitive firms at home. Absent progress on this front, Canada will continue to be a feeder system for the U.S. innovation economy" According to TD, Canada's "demotivating personal taxes" and "labyrinthine business taxes" are big contributors to the problem economics.td.com/ca-silent-b…

And if we look at who is moving, it's disproportionately young people. Big cities have become places young people move from, rather than move to.

A building permit application should take 10 seconds to get a yes or no answer. If no, it should tell you what is needed to get to yes. It should not take months and months. instagram.com/reel/DVrItxBDI…

A recent poll shows that only 29% of non-homeowners are confident they will ever be able to buy a home. That is unacceptable. Our government is working tirelessly to make homeownership more attainable by easing financial pressures, streamlining planning processes, and creating the right conditions for builders and municipalities to deliver more homes and housing-enabling infrastructure across the province. We will continue taking decisive action to help prospective homebuyers move off the sidelines and into the market faster. #ONPoli #Housing
