Westmoreland requested more troops, saying he knew where the main body of the enemy was, and with more troops, he was sure he could wipe them out, and put an end to the conflict. ~ Unfortunately, Lindon Johnson was the newly Elected President, and was under pressure to get out of the conflict as soon as possible!!! ~ So Johnson, under political pressure, denied Westmoreland's Request, stating that he believed that the Vietnamese Army was capable of defending their country, and he was planning to bring our boys home !!! ~ This unexpected announcement that America was pulling out of the conflict, triggered; The Tet Offensive, that forced Americas speedy exit, out of the country, and soon after, resulted in the slaughter of millions of innocent Vietnamese People. ~ It was especially sad for me because soon after, a young woman that I met there, and really cared for, stopped writing back, and I never heard from her again !!! ~ As for Jane Fonda, she was labeled a traitor, along with John Kerry, the infamous, Politician !!!
