The #BBC trialled its first broadcast to schools 100 years ago today in Glasgow. While many people have fond memories of music broadcasts such as Time and Tune and Singing Together, wireless lessons covered a variety of subjects (including geography!).
100 years ago today, pupils at Garnetbank school in Glasgow listened to the UK’s first ever school broadcast. It was made by 5SC, a local station run by the BBC. 📸 British Thomson-Houston radio, manufactured c.1915. Image by Ilario on Wikipedia CC BY-SA 4.0

WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT How could this happen? I feel like someone has plunged a dagger into my heart. This is one of England's most iconic trees. A symbol of Northumberland. Part of the historic landscape. So much more than a tree.
The iconic Sycamore Gap tree on Hadrian's Wall Path in Northumberland has been felled overnight. We're waiting more information on this. Pics - Amanda Marks, Author, Facebook.
