A busy maintenance period for the team in preparation for the next Systems Proformance Assessment Trials (SPATs). We even managed a visit from the next generation of unmanned vessels, RN MotorBoat Abdiel.
While conducting autonomous trials from Portland, the MASTT team were awarded the Platinum Jubilee medals in recognition of their service. #PlatinumJubileeCelebration
Welcome to the team CPO Morton who takes over as the 2iC (& Tweeto!)
The next couple of weeks will be spent understanding the MMCM capability being trialled by MASTT.

The MMCM capability enables @RoyalNavy personnel to operate from ashore. In this picture the OiC is acting as the Decision Maker with Mine Warfare Ratings operating the USV and TSAM. In this latest trial, data was gathered at a speed of 10kts!

Leading Seaman Mason taking charge of his deck team during todays ROV installation.
A complex serial, but gives Mine Warfare ratings more responsibility in this exciting capability.

This week we have been sweeping up on installing and removing our ROV.
It’s not a competition, but we are now doing it quicker than the training staff 😉
To make today even better, our engineers stopped briefly for a photo!

Friday at sea, testing the ROV.
Whilst bobbing around on the blue crinkly stuff, we’ve named the ROV. Let us introduce you to… (drumroll) SAABastian.

Sun, Sea and… thunderbird 4!
Today, MASTT received the ROV element of the MMCM capability.
Some fantastic teamwork, combining RN personnel with @ThalesUK and @SaabSeaeye to embark the vehicle onboard the USV.
More to follow!
@Turnchapel
Here we are, carrying out Towed Sonar trials from a remote control centre.
MCM autonomy is the future, this exciting capability will be operated by Mine Warfare ratings to ensure a global Navy manoeuvres safely and freely.

For #InternationalWomensDay meet AB Booth, who is as a Subject Matter Expert in Towed Sonar Operations and Post Mission Analysis.
She is one of the first Mine Warfare ratings being exposed to MCM autonomy… the future of the MW branch is in safe hands.
A rough day at sea, is better than any day in the office.
Today we took the opportunity to trial our Mine Obstacle Avoidance Sonar, as part of our capability trials. Plus, it’s always fun to poke our nose out!

It’s raining, it’s pouring, AB Booth is trials recording.
It’s vital that we collate data to help us develop future operating procedures for MMCM.
Also, LS Murray is carrying out post mission analysis on the Towed Sonar.

We are now under the Command of the newly formed Mine Threat Exploitation Group. MTXG will also inherit the future mission system teams that will operate future autonomous systems.
The future of MCM within the RN is almost here and it’s exciting.
