Due to wet weather patterns and ODF declaring fire season over in SW OR, officials with the Rogue River-Siskiyou NF and the BLM Medford District are rescinding campfire restrictions in the Wild section of the Rogue National Wild and Scenic River.

The Upper Rogue Cooperative Travel Management Area (Green Dot) closure for the 2024 Cascade Bull Elk season will be in effect from November 6-15, 2024. The majority of roads on the High Cascades Ranger District are closed during this period.

The Butte Fork Bridge, located in the Red Buttes Wilderness, is closed to the public starting Oct 9, 2024 through Oct 1, 2025, unless rescinded sooner. Removal of the bridge is required due to catastrophic failure from decayed substructures. tinyurl.com/3hzh6xbt

ALT The red-cockaded woodpecker (Leuconotopicus borealis) lives in the longleaf pine forests of the southeastern United States and was downlisted in 2020 from endangered to threatened - an important management success.
ALT On March 5, 1993, the Pacific coast population of the western snowy plover (Charadrius alexandrinus nivosus) was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Although its historical range included Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington; it is currently limited to California, Oregon, and Washington. The reasons for its population decline and degree of threats vary by geographic location; however, the primary threat is habitat destruction and degradation.
