Linoleic acid is the most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acid in the Western-style diet and has been implicated in promoting inflammation and cancer. In Science, researchers report a mechanism by which linoleic acid can activate the mTORC1 protein kinase, which coordinates growth and nutrient signals. What an inspiring event hosted last week by Boston Children's Hospital. A group of 16 fearless women lead by Nancy Hopkins were major actors in the fight for equal recognition of women scientists at MIT in 1999. We are so grateful for them and should continue their work!
