What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing.

If I had a trillion dollars, I’d make self-driving electric cars, telepathy cybernetics, humanoid AI robots, and rocket ships so I could build a moon colony. I’d also employ like 160,000 people. I’d also pay billions in taxes. Everyone would love me!

The US govt spends $7 trillion every year and they don’t solve shit.
A trillion dollars could solve virtually every problem. Any problem at all. But instead it’s all just going to Some Guy

"Liquidate assets" = sell some shares to other people, essentially just moving money around. All the people who could buy those shares could also give money to "organizations making the world a better place". Cut out the middle man. Problem is, Democrats have shown us that it's mostly all fraud, and now we're unsure which, if any, of these "organizations" can be trusted. Clearly we cannot trust the government, since they are the biggest frauds of all.

Claude Fable 5 just landed. It knocked out a weird field-of-view bug I'd been struggling with (using Opus on max effort and GPT on xhigh helping out), on the first try. I'm definitely chewing through my session limits in a way Opus 4.8 never managed, though.

This is why I always liked Reagan's phrase of "our well-meaning liberal friends". Her shirt and attitude is, in a way, endearing. She is incapable of seeing anything but a positive future and positive outlook for her decision. Our liberal friends are good at heart and well-meaning. They are just a bit dangerously naïve and have no understanding of history, or the likely future. They don't understand the long term consequences. It's not how they think. The Minnesota fraud is part of this too. While I do think Democratic Party leaders are in on it and, therefore, evil, I think the average Democrat voter has no concept of fraud and thinks that a government program to "help the children" can only possibly help the children. That a bunch of fraudsters would take advantage of it to the extent of ruining the program entirely isn't something that occurs to them at all. They are our hopelessly optimistic, cheerful little idiots, and we have to protect them from their own bad ideas.

ICE should launch an entertainment wing. For a fee of $20/hr, you can stand on an ICE facility roof and shoot pepper balls at terrorists. Money back guarantee if you don't get to pepper anyone. (The water cannon requires a subscription to the ICE Fan Club.)

Last night, I read the entirety of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. It's a novel told in the form of letters written by a demon to another demon instructing him on ways to manipulate his "patient" to do evil. This one quote sounded familiar.

When I spend too much time online, I become convinced that humanity is cooked. Then I go outside and everything is fine. And my feed is relatively positive compared to many others. It's no wonder there are so many doomers.

Meh. ~80% of the country supports voter ID. ~80% of republican senators supported it. 0% of democrat senators supported it and we need to talk about why they don't represent their voters.

They are probably there legally on TPS -- "Temporary Protected Status". Look into it. It's kind of interesting. It's a program the Democrats have dragged out for decades despite it being "temporary". It's why we have problems with non-citizen children who grew into adults.

Kinda tired of seeing 100s of posts like this. Tonight's vote needed 60 votes. It was a showpiece, because they knew it had no chance, and it had no chance between it required Democrat support, and Democrats will never vote to fix election fraud. We need a GOP supermajority in the Senate to pass anything other than simple budget items.
Do you see what Senate Republicans are doing? The Save America Act was hurting them politically. So they set up a sham vote to shift blame to Democrats, but ultimately they had the power to pass it themselves. Talking points are already out… it was the Democrats! No, it wasn’t.

Engage in Clint-Eastwoodism. You can carry a ceremonial Smith & Wesson model 29 chambered for .44 Magnum along with a full load of ceremonial bullets. The religion states that when Clint Eastwood returns, his followers must not be found lacking.

I like to think the occasional confused Democrat shows up thinking to maybe protest ICE only to find out they are totally surrounded by anarchists who get more likes and subscribes for every fire they set and every brick they throw.

There's 8 billion people on the planet. Even without AI you are competing with potentially millions of slop generators. The new trick for the modern age is figuring out how to market yourself, and how to stand out in a crowded arena. Marketing works too. I have bought numerous books because an interesting ad from some author found its way past my social media feed.

Question: If the Feds are able to track down and prosecute every MAGA grand mom that walked into the Capitol on January 6th then why isn’t every violent ICE rioter being tracked down and prosecuted? What say you?

I think AI vs coding has the same argument. Here's how I see it: If you liked coding/art for the technical ability then yes, you are shit out of luck now because AI has replaced the technical ability aspect. You can still do it but there's not going to be much market for that technical ability. If you liked coding/art for the ability to create and express then you're in the golden age. Had 50 ideas you wanted to create but felt bogged down in all the time spent shading and redrawing the first idea? Now is your time to shine. The technical work can be done for you now. You just need the ideas.
