Zackenberg Research Station is officially closed for the season 2024! The last crew departed on September 18, with windows and doors secured for the coming winter. The station will open again in Spring 2025 - more info will be available on the website later this year.

I could not go to Zackenberg this spring for the startup of field season. I stayed home with my newborn son. But these two great colleagues went instead. They did a fantastic job. All installations now spins perfectly and provides near real time data for @ICOS_RI

Yesterday (Feb 1st) the patrolmen from Sirius inspected again. Still no damages. The station was running. Some downtime in Jan due to no solar or wind power to charge the batteries. But now the sun returns. Patrolmen removed snow from PVs. Waiting for the sun to do its work.

The @ICOS_RI station GL-ZaF at @ZERO74N is unmanned throughout the winter. Systems are running on an autonomous power system. Yesterday, patrolmen from Sirius Dog Sled Patrol made a winter visit to the station.

@ZERO74N has now been left for the winter. @JackowiczMarcin and @KleemolaVesa have struggled to ensure continuous winter measurements at high-arctic #ICOS station, Zackenberg. Instruments serviced, autonomous power system optimized. Hope the PBs will not return and terrorize.
