Lab @MBLScience (Sept '21) interested in sensory biology of invertebrates, photobiology, biological rhythms, development and diversity. Working with flatworms.
I’m very excited to share our preprint on daily rhythms in the transcriptomes of the human blood fluke Schistosoma mansoni biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
...a stress response and metabolic ‘rush hour’, gene expression in the female reproductive system that is mirrored by patterns in egg laying (eggs cause host pathology), and cycling genes involved in host-parasite interactions - including a vaccine candidate and drug targets
These 24hr rhythms may promote survival and transmission, and are important for the development and delivery of therapeutics against schistosomiasis. Many thanks to @parasitegenomes@ProfHoff1@Clocks_n_crabs and @kaust_corelabs for their work and collaboration on this.
I am super excited to announce that my preprint with @DrMattBenton has just gone live! "The neuroblast timer gene nubbin exhibits functional redundancy with gap genes to regulate segment identity in Tribolium"
