"The hard truth about underfunding palliative care is that people who are at their most vulnerable – the dying – suffer more pain, more indignity, less choice & less autonomy than they might have." Incredibly, only 30% of hospice care is NHS funded - a national travesty. Please read my piece in today’s @guardian.

Sir Jim Mackey keeps talking frameworks, compliance, and vague incentives, but offers no real solution. ✖️Endless policy talk ✖️Zero action ✖️Words over patients ✖️Bureaucracy over care Routine waits are rising, frail patients miss out, frontline care suffers.
‘Bring back the Family Doctor’ NHS England’s CEO Sir Jim’s answer to reduced GP access 🤯 Waffle, Neighbourhoods, waffle, maybe money … Let’s be 100% clear Neighbourhoods WILL NOT IMPROVE GP ACCESS FUND GP PRACTICES @wesstreeting @DHSCgovuk 16:48 parliamentlive.tv/event/inde…

This is true but then how will they allow us to increase our capacity - they hold the purse strings

Thank you @annalouisedixon for bringing this question. The answer was not reassuring

Dear @wesstreeting @SKinnock - I now have at least 25% less face to face appointments with my patients due to your enforced all day online requests I have to deal with. I’m sat in front of a screen for hrs & hrs typing away-I became a GP to see patients in my surgery. @pulsetoday

I know many GP teams have been struggling with this. We want to see our patients. But instead we are having to lose capacity so that politicians can deliver a soundbite. I am not sure how much more we can take.

our practice used to have great access. Same day urgents, 1-2 weeks routine. Since digital access imposition in October a routine appt is 3 weeks as we’ve had to reduce F2F appts to triage all the online appts @wesstreeting @SKinnock @annalouisedixon @_RobbieMoore @doctor_katie

The NHS survived this year because staff absorbed the consequences of decisions they didn’t make, chaos they didn’t create. The blunt message from this year is the NHS is led by someone who isn’t clever enough, experienced enough and is too cocky by half. myemail.constantcontact.com/…

I've written this open letter to @Keir_Starmer & @wesstreeting because, though I am desperately worried about NHS patients over the next 5 days, I know this strike by resident doctors is a desperate act of last resort. Please read.

When patients are talking about “my doctor,” many talk about their GP. It’s a privilege to care for a person as go through their last moments in life or help a patient struggling with mental health. None of these are transactional. It’s holistic, whole person care. #TeamGP

GPs are not being ‘Luddites, laggards, refuseniks, moaning minis, or obstructing innovation’ all Govt quotes They have repeatedly increased capacity, but there are limits. Raising expectations without increasing capacity is a folly ⁦@wesstreetinglowdownnhs.info/topics/gp-su…

Don’t ruin general practice . Where it works it’s brilliant. Listen to the concerns of those at the coalface … those that work in their communities outside of the big cities. Don’t kill off small practices for the sake of scale because you’ll lose that community connection

6. Small can be beautiful. Model the cost savings in the system of good continuity of care. Lose this and costs go up. Lose it and health outcomes go down. Don’t throw the baby out with the neighbourhood bath water 👇

There you go: @SKinnock @wesstreeting Immense unmet need Unsustainable - how can we make this better? Door remains open to talk to us about our @BMA_GP data from >1000 practices serving over 14,000,000 patients
🚨FORTY MILLION APPOINTMENTS🚨 2/3 of the population in one month 🤯 ‘Lazy, laggards, stuck in the 20th century’ @wesstreeting GPs & their teams are not getting thanks but worse they are not getting the resources & criticised for asking for help 🚨FORTY MILLION APPOINTMENTS🚨

🩺 | “We hope patients, GPs, community teams, and MPs will see the incredible benefits of a fully funded and functioning general practice. “The time is now. Your GP, here for you.” Our call for a new patient-centred GP contract dauk.org/our-call-for-new-pa…
YOUR GP - HERE FOR YOU - A NEW CONTRACT It’s time for a new contract between you, your GP & the Government For too long GP have been restricted in providing care by top down contracts with limited funding, which don’t put patients first GPs need your support in providing this
