It’s so important for YP with chronic illness to be able to access all the life experiences that shape them into happy, healthy, fulfilled grown ups. Even if that means we need to manage parental and societal anxieties about them participating #transition @ReadySteadyGo3

The quote comes from one of my favourite @offspring tracks, and somehow just seemed to be right for this hardest of topics. Thank you @drjamesdearden and @RCPCHtweets for the opportunity to share some of the things we have learnt on the last 16 months rcpch.ac.uk/milestones

Effective transition planning and delivery is something stakeholders agree is a crucial need for CYP and young adults with ongoing health needs as they move into adult services @ReadySteadyGo3 @betwil1209
We asked YP how health services could be better for them at the #NHSYouthSummit they said - listen to young people more, improve communication, have more in person appointments and better transition processes, reduce waiting & take mental health seriously

What do leaders who are exceptional communicators do? 1) Use short words to talk about hard things 2) Choose powerful metaphors to reinforce key concepts 3) Humanise data by putting numbers in perspective 4) "Overcommunicate" the mission: hbr.org/2022/11/how-great-le… By @carminegallo

Positive attention is 30x more powerful than negative. It's much more effective than "feedback". Notes of appreciation help: 1) people see their strengths 2) focus our attention on what’s working 3) signal to people that they matter: hbr.org/2022/11/notes-of-app… Via @johnsonwhitney
