🆕 Together, we have successfully campaigned. We welcome @wesstreeting's decision to increase @NHSEngland funding for #ChildrensHospices to £26 million in 25/26. There will also be a £100m package for children’s and adult hospices in England. bit.ly/3Paqca1

Children and young people make up 24% of our population and 100% of our future so it was great to join today’s 10 Year Health Plan engagement event and listen to patient and parents forums, stakeholders in CYP health and care, and importantly, our young people.

Our first stop is theatres! 😷 We went into one of the many amazing theatres at Alder Hey where we got to have a closer look at what happens there. We wanted to do a head transplant, but they said no! ☹

Today I was delighted to be the first witness for the new @CommonsEd where I spoke about children's rights to a happy, healthy childhood. Children need the right support and care early on, to ensure this short but special time in their lives is protected.

Brilliant meeting with Youth Justice Minister ⁦@NicDakin55⁩ - loads of good ideas for sorting out the youth estate - at last. Pretty wonderful that he taught me Chaucer & Wilfred Owen ⁦@JohnLeggottColl⁩ back in the 1980’s too. He was a fabulous teacher. #Scunthorpe❤️

Finally read this. Devastating, shameful, revolting dereliction of social and health care. David was subjected to torture by social care staff and a covert dental extraction of all his teeth. 1/2

To those saying comments like "oh good more money for those who contribute nothing" - check ur facts! 40% of UC claimants are the working poor others are carers, have disabilities or illness, & some who don't have work, want it. A little more compassion & less judgement wouldn't hurt.
Just spotted.... this is a good change for benefits recipients, deductions can be soul-destroying. #budget "Caps deductions made through Universal Credit at 15% of the standard allowance. Before this Budget, it was 25%... approximately 1.2 million households will keep more of their Universal Credit payment each month, with households expected to be better off by an average of over £420 a year"
