I hope somehow Mathew knows how our country continues to mourn him, and that he is so loved, not only by his family and friends, but by people who never got to meet him.
DID YOU KNOW for 25 years Matthew Shepard had no permanent resting place due to concerns his grave would be vandalized, and when Reverend Budde learned of this, she invited the Shepards to inter him inside the Washington National Cathedral. She co-officiated the service which stated Matthew was now and forever home in the church where he was loved. matthewshepard.org/matthew-s… She was and is a real hero.

Below is the full text of the draft Gaza ceasefire agreement currently being negotiated in Doha. A phased prisoner exchange and full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Media reports today all say that Hamas has accepted it. It is the same deal which Hamas already accepted in May 2024, and which the genocidal Biden admin repeatedly lied about. See this link for May text: arabcenterdc.org/resource/de… The currently discussed text follows: Phase I (42 days): 1- Temporary suspension of mutual military operations by the parties, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces east and away from the densely populated areas to an area along the border in all areas of the Gaza Strip, including the Gaza Valley (Netzarim axis and Kuwait Roundabout) 2- A temporary suspension of air activity (for military and reconnaissance purposes) in the Gaza Strip for 10 hours a day, and for 12 hours on the days of release of abductees and prisoners. 3- The return of the displaced to their areas of residence, and the withdrawal from the Gaza Valley (Netsarim axis and the Kuwait Roundabout): A. On the seventh day (after the release of 7 of the detainees), the Israeli forces withdraw completely from Al-Rashid Street to the east to Salah al-Din Street, dismantle the military sites and installations in this area completely, and begin the return of the displaced to their areas of residence (without carrying a weapon during their return), as well as the freedom of movement of the population in all areas of the Strip, and the entry of humanitarian aid from Al-Rashid Street starting from the first day and without obstacles. B. On the 22nd day, Israeli forces will withdraw from the center of the Strip (especially the Ntsarim axis, and the axis of the Kuwait Roundabout) east of Salah al-Din Road to an area close to the border, and military positions and installations will be completely dismantled, and the return of the displaced to their places of residence (without carrying weapons with them while returning to their homes) in the north of the Strip will continue, and the freedom of movement of the population in all areas of the Strip will continue. C. Starting from the first day, intensive and sufficient quantities of humanitarian aid, relief materials and fuel (600 trucks per day, including 50 fuel trucks, including 300 for the north) will be introduced, including the fuel necessary for the operation of the power plant, trade and the necessary equipment for the removal of ruble, and the rehabilitation and operation of hospitals, health centers and bakeries in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and continuing this in all stages of the agreement. 4- Exchange of hostages and prisoners between the two sides: A. During the first phase, Hamas releases 33 Israeli detainees (alives or bodies), including women (civilians and female recruits), children (under the age of 19 non-soldiers), the elderly (over the age of 50) and wounded and sick civilians, in exchange for a number of prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, according to the following: B- Hamas releases all of the living Israeli detainees, including civilian women and children (under the age of 19, non-soldiers). In return, Israel releases 30 children and women for every Israeli detainee released, based on lists provided by Hamas, according to the oldest arrested. B. Hamas releases all Israeli detainees, the elderly (over the age of 50) and the sick and wounded civilians. In return, Israel releases 30 elderly prisoners (over 50 years) and the sick for each Israeli detainee, based on lists provided by Hamas according to the oldest arrest. C. Hamas releases all female Israeli recruits who are alive. In return, Israel releases 50 prisoners from its prisons in exchange for every Israeli female recruit who is released (30 life, 20 serving other sentences and have no more than 15 years left) based on lists provided by Hamas. With the exception of an agreed number of prisoners (at least 100 prisoners), their situation will be discussed in the second phase of the Convention... An agreed number (at least 50) of prisoners serving life sentences abroad or in Gaza will be released. 5- Scheduling the exchange of detainees and prisoners between the two parties in the first phase: On the first day of the agreement, Hamas will release 3 Israeli (civilian) hostages. On the seventh day of the agreement, Hamas will release four other Israelis (civilians)... After that, Hamas will release three additional Israeli abductees every seven days, first women (civilians and soldiers), and all abducteees living will be released before the bodies are returned. In the sixth week, Hamas will release all remaining civilian detainees included at this stage. In return, Israel will release an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons, according to the lists to be submitted by Hamas. By the seventh day, Hamas will transmit information on the number of Israeli abductees who will be released at this stage. C. In the sixth week (after the release of Hisham Al-Sayed and Afra Mengistu, who were among a total of 33 abductees agreed to be released in the first phase of the agreement), the Israeli side will release 47 prisoners of the Shalit deal who were imprisoned for the second time. D. If the number of abducted living Israelis scheduled for release does not reach 33, the number of bodies of the same categories shall be completed for this stage, in return, Israel will release in the sixth week all women and children (under the age of 19) who were arrested from the Gaza Strip after October 7, 2023. E. The exchange process is linked to the extent of compliance with the terms of the agreement, including the cessation of military operations by both sides, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the return of displaced persons and the entry of humanitarian aid. Palestinian prisoners who will be released again will not be arrested on the same charges on which they were previously arrested, and the Israeli side will not take the initiative to re-arrest the Palestinians released to serve the remainder of their sentence. Palestinian prisoners to be released will not be required to sign any document as a condition for their release. 7. The exchange of abductees and prisoners in the first phase detailed above will not be considered the basis for the exchange keys in the second phase. 8. No later than the sixteenth day, indirect negotiations between the two sides will begin on the agreement on the terms of implementation of the second phase of this agreement, including those relating to the keys to the exchange of prisoners and prisoners between the two sides (soldiers and other men). Agreements on this issue must be reached before the end of the fifth week of this phase. 9. The United Nations, its agencies and other international organizations will continue their work in providing humanitarian services in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and will continue to do so throughout the agreement stages. 10- Start rehabilitating infrastructure (electricity, water, sanitation, communications and roads) in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and introducing the necessary equipment for civil defense, and to remove rubble and rubble, and the above will continue throughout the stages of the agreement. 11. It will be possible to introduce the necessary supplies and requirements for the establishment of shelters for displaced persons who lost their homes during the war (at least 60,000 temporary housing - caravans - and 200,000 tents). 12. After the release of all Israeli soldiers, more than the agreed number of military wounded will arrive at the Rafah crossing for medical treatment, the number of people as well as the sick and wounded who are allowed to pass through the Rafah crossing will increase, and restrictions on the use of passing passengers, the movement of goods and trade will be removed. 13. Start implementing the necessary arrangements and plans for the comprehensive reconstruction of houses, civilian buildings and civil infrastructure destroyed as a result of the war and compensating those affected under the supervision of a number of countries and organizations, including Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations. 14. All actions at this stage, including the temporary cessation of military operations by both sides, relief and shelter efforts, troop withdrawal, etc., will continue in the second phase as long as negotiations on conditions continue. The second phase of this agreement continues to be implemented. The guarantors of this agreement will make every effort to ensure that these indirect negotiations continue so that the parties can reach agreements on the terms of the implementation of the second phase of this agreement. Phase II (42 days): 15- The announcement of the return of sustainable calm (a permanent cessation of military operations and all hostile activities) and will come into force before the start of the exchange of detainees and prisoners between the two sides – all the remaining Israeli men alive (civilians and soldiers) – in exchange for an agreed number of prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces outside the Gaza Strip. Phase III (42 days): 16- The bodies and remains of the dead in the possession of both parties will be exchanged after reaching and identifying them. 17. The implementation of the plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip for a period of 3 to 5 years, including houses, civilian buildings and civil infrastructure, and compensation for all those affected will begin under the supervision of a number of countries and organizations, including Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations. Opening crossings and allowing the movement of people and goods. The guarantors of the agreement: Qatar, Egypt, United States

Enough Republicans have declared their opposition to Speaker Johnson remaining in leadership to prevent him from being Speaker and likely preventing anyone from being Speaker. This would prevent the House from doing anything, but that actually seems better than the alternative.

Had a call with a novelist yesterday who was looking for a screenwriter to adapt her unpublished manuscript on spec and I was like: NO. Writing is work. Writers have mortgages and rent. Writing is not a privilege it’s a time consuming job, and it shouldn’t be done free.

I want to share a very difficult producing experience I had this year so you can avoid it, because it’s always helped me to see other creatives here share their wins and their fails. As you recall, I was attached to produce a $40M feature. You’ll notice, it’s not on my IMDB 1/
