For the last 10 years, Albertans have been hit from both sides.
Premier Danielle Smith says more than $500 billion in investment capital destined for our resource sector disappeared over the last decade.
That works out to roughly $100,000 in lost potential for every Albertan.
That is $10,000 per Albertan, per year.
On top of that, Fraser Institute figures show Alberta continues to send billions more to Ottawa than we receive back. Roughly another $4,500 per Albertan, per year based on recent estimates.
Put those together and the impact is $14,500 per Albertan, per year.
For a family of four, that is $58,000 a year in lost opportunity and federal overpayment.
Over 10 years, that is roughly $145,000 per Albertan or $580,000 for a family of 4.
Alberta is not broke.
Alberta is being drained.
