Long before diversity became a point of focus in Hollywood, he was breaking barriers as Disney's first Black animator. Now, at 90 years old, he is receiving an honorary Oscar for a lifetime of achievement. This recognition is long overdue and well deserved. Congratulations to Floyd on a legacy that opened doors, inspired generations, and left an indelible mark on the world of animation.

Instead of receiving the care and protection he needed, he was struck by a police cruiser and died from his injuries the following day.
