Texans WR Justin Watson said on Texans All Access w/ @TexansVoice & @jharrisfootball that during the 6 week break until training camp, C.J. Stroud & the WRs/TEs are planning to get together and work out.

Texans OL coach Cole Popovich spoke very positively about OT Trent Brown & his impact on the room (Question from @Cody_Stoots & video from @AaronWilson_NFL): “He understands our system really well, understands the techniques and what we are trying to do so it’s great having him there, he pulls guys aside all the time and just hey this is really what he’s looking for.”

The Texans have been one of the 10 most-penalized teams in the NFL every season since 2023. From 2023-2024, they were in the top-five. This past season, they were tied for 8th-worst (118 enforced). Compare that to playoff contenders like the Rams, 49ers, Patriots and the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks, who were within the eight least-penalized teams in the league in 2025. DeMeco Ryans on tight ends and heavy personnel: “Caley wants all the tight ends out right, out 4 of em out there. The tight ends pose a matchup problem. It’s not just the tight ends, it’s how the tight ends have evolved.”

Azeez Al-Shaair on Keylan Rutledge & Texans OL mentality: “The mentality. I was talking to Rut about this. The best OLmen I know are like gnats. Get off the block & by the end of the play you just feel somebody breathing on you like ‘man get the hell away from me.’ That’s how it’s been for him specifically [Rutledge]. There’s times where I’m over there thinking about punching him cuz he just right there, on you. And I love that. The best players at that position just won’t stop. It’s hard to coach somebody to be physical. He has the right mindset. Obviously the guys we brought in as well, Wyatt, Braden, just like I said guys like ‘damn this dude won’t leave me alone.’ The pests.”

Danielle Hunter on improvements for Texans offense & CJ Stroud: “Few days I’ve been here I noticed a lot from oline & QB play. How they work together in sync. Definitely better across the oline. CJ, just having his pocket awareness. He’s able to step up, making plays. I just got done in the indoor talking to CJ telling him he’s doing a good job of stepping up, having awareness of the edge rushers. Definitely across the oline & CJ making his reads.”

Jawhar Jordan on rushing for over 100 yards in his first career NFL game: “I knew what was gunna happen. I told my family ‘I got an opportunity this week and I’m gunna rush for 100 yards.’ You know how people say the tongue is powerful? I should’ve told them a touchdown too. The game was easy. When you going against a defense like ours day to day, the game comes easy, so I was ready for the moment.”

Dalton Schultz when talking about run blocking being about mindset & the new OL: “From the new faces that we have, that’s the first thing that’s jumped out to me, the mindset. DeMeco threw a few clips on in the first week of pulling some of the OL back like ‘hey, we can’t go clean out a DE who’s just sitting there holding up.’ We got guys flying around trying to hit people. That’s a problem that we hadn’t necessarily had for the last couple years, having to pull guys back like ‘hey, slow down.’ Usually what he’s saying to the defense, to see it on the offensive side is nice.”

Derek Stingley Jr. on the Texans offense: “Pre-snap they’re moving faster & quicker. All the motions are correct I would say. They break the huddle & they getting to the line, everybody know what to do. I think they’re gunna be good.”

This week is the final time players will be in the building formally until training camp begins in late July for the Texans. Monday - Media Day Tuesday & Wednesday - Mandatory Mini Camp July 23rd was the first day of camp last year and would expect something around the same this year.
