Like the rest of the civilized universe, I'm looking for a Bluesky invite. And, no, I'm not paying you for it.

The follow up says that if you want to say stuff like this and keep your job, you should be a freelancer. It’s because of superficially judge-y people in a lot of work places that I’m a freelancer. I just don’t have to tolerate it any more.
I don't hire people who dye their hair into weird colors. It's not perfect but it's a pretty good heuristic for unpredictable and self-centered behavior.

Yesterday's Meat & Hair from @AshAmbirge quoted Matthew Kimberly on authority: "Nowadays, rule-breakers are spoken about in whispers and not invited to garden parties and dragged through the courts." He's right. When did we start thinking of rule-breakers as assholes?

Fact: If I need to follow up with someone, I'll write out the words "follow up" on my to-do list. But if I'm chasing down money, I'm definitely using the abbreviation "f/u."

"It’s this lazy approach to research that churns out lazy content." Totally agree! Lazy, sloppy, unfocused, meandering...When I teach writing to SMEs, I break it down to 40-40-20: 40% of your time on research, planning & outlining; 40% on actual writing; 20% revising & editing.

"Please make this shorter" is one of my favorite ChatGPT prompts. But now I'm adding "Please make this nicer."
One of the hidden joys of #ChatGPT: the ability to write the memo you REALLY want to send, and then have it write the memo you SHOULD send.
