This week I introduced the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) Clarification in Sciences Act — legislation to ensure that decisions about controlled substances are based on today’s best scientific evidence, not outdated standards. For too long, the law has boxed promising treatments into a circular process that blocks the very research needed to evaluate their potential. By requiring drug scheduling to rely on modern science, this bill helps open the door to new discoveries for millions of Americans living with depression, PTSD, and other serious mental health conditions. See a one-pager on the measure below.

This weekend marked the 61st anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut, the Supreme Court decision that recognized the right of married couples to use birth control. Since that ruling, access to contraception has broadened significantly, but now the GOP are trying to reverse this progress. That’s why I signed the discharge petition to force a vote on the Right to Contraception Act. Eight in ten Americans support the Right to Contraception Act, which ensures the right for Americans to access contraception and protects the right of health care providers to provide contraceptives.

Last Monday was a great day for South City as we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the South City Early Education Center—one of the new anchor tenants of the Porter Jr. High redevelopment. The transformation of this historic site into a mixed‑use community hub for families, learning, and opportunity was made partly possible with $3M in FY 23 Community Project funding and with hard work from everyone involved. Thank you to Archie Willis, Alex Willis Boddie, and the full Com Cap Partners team for driving this vision forward, and congratulations to Porter‑Leath and the dedicated staff opening the doors of this new early education center. Proud to see this investment become a reality.

This is a devastating interview. Scott Pelley tells the NYT that Bari Weiss directly put a “thumb on the scale” for Trump over the killing of Renee Good. Here’s his explanation of exactly what happened.

HE is the crook , He is the stupid one. HE IS NO JFK. HE’S NOT EVEN DICK NIXON EXCEPT ON HIS WORST DAYS. AFTER 250 YEARS THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE! NO CELEBRATION WARRANTED!
WOW -- Trump crashes out and cuts his interview with Welker short as she presses him on his lack of evidence for claiming elections are rigged "You're either crooked or you're stupid. Let's call it quits. Because I've had enough. Thank you darling," he tells her." "I traveled all the way to Wisconsin for this interview," she pleads.

On the anniversary of D-Day, we pay tribute to U.S. and Allied Forces who served during World War II and remember the service members whose bravery on the beaches and in the skies above Normandy and Nazi-occupied France changed the course of history.

Last night I spoke from the House floor urging my colleagues to vote in favor of the Support Ukraine Act. We need to stand with democracy, freedom, and courage and against authoritarianism. I was pleased the resolution passed.

Today, on World Environment Day, we are reminded that the actions we take today to protect our environment will help create a healthier, more sustainable future for all. That's why I am co-leading a letter to oppose @EPA's rescission of coal ash rules and working on legislation to strengthen the Clean Air Act. Throughout my career, I've supported the development of clean energy, fought pipelines through disadvantaged communities, and worked to hold polluters accountable.

Rep. Andy Ogles says he's "mind blown" over a staffer he claims fired off a tweet on the Congressman's account, saying there's "no place for homosexuality in America" -- but Andy doesn't reveal to @hicharliecotton whether he shares the sentiment.

This week in committee I argued the reasons why Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts should be impeached after additional evidence came forward with the Alabama case. I filed six Articles of Impeachment against Chief Justice Roberts on May 21st.

Today I was honored by the Greater Memphis Chamber with a plaque commemorating my work, leadership, and steadfast commitment to Memphis. It has been wonderful working with the Chamber on projects that build up our community, mostly notably the $393.9M new I-55 Bridge, which is the largest federal investment Memphis has received. Grateful for the many years of teamwork.

Spoke on the House floor yesterday in support of the Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act, which I co-lead with @RepChuck and voted for. The 288‑mile trail connects GA, TN & NC. This study is the first step toward potential National Scenic Trail status, the first new one since 2009.

I visited Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry last week to learn more about its work providing mothers and newborns with essential items like diapers and baby formula. These basic needs add up quickly and can place a real strain on families. That’s why organizations like this are so important. Their volunteers and supporters offer dignity, comfort, and hope to those who need it most.

Joined Mayor Young at PURE Academy to highlight the $1,031,000 in federal funding I secured for the Youth Violence Prevention Program. Grateful to hear from leaders at PURE Academy and Heal 901 and to see their inspiring work to keep our youth and community safe.

Congressman Horsford, Senator Booker, and I led my colleagues in calling on the President to commute the sentences of people serving non-violent marijuana sentences. Too many lives have been derailed by outdated laws that no longer reflect our nation’s views— nearly 9 in 10 Americans support some form of legal marijuana.

Sadly, he is not the only one. Justice Thomas springs to mind for his "disclosures". For the decades of demands to pack the court one way or the other, it seems buying them was easier. intpolicydigest.org/a-matter…
