The death tax is an unfair pilfer tax that forces farmers and working families to worry about losing their livelihoods during a time of grief. That’s why the Working Families Tax Cuts increased the death tax exemption to $15 million. I have also introduced the Death Tax Repeal Act to permanently eliminate the death tax and help ensure family farms and businesses can be passed on to the next generation. As Secretary Bessent emphasized, many countries have already adopted similar policies. It’s time to put the next generation of American farmers first and protect the future of family-owned farms.

It’s common sense that taxpayer dollars should be used to support those who need assistance—not sent overseas. That’s why I introduced the No American Benefits Abroad Act, which would prohibit welfare recipients from transferring taxpayer-funded benefits abroad. Americans expect welfare programs to serve their intended purpose: helping those in need here at home, not funding transfers overseas.

For too long, foreign entities have acquired farmland with little oversight or accountability. That’s why I was pleased to see my FARMLAND Act included in the Farm Bill to strengthen oversight, close security gaps, and ensure America’s farmland remains in the hands of future generations of Americans.

This month is National Dairy Month! Representing one of the largest dairy and cattle-producing districts in the nation, I’m proud to support policies like the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act that strengthen opportunities for Iowa farmers while ensuring the next generation has access to nutritious dairy products.

Over the weekend, my District Director, Abby, had the honor of attending the welcome home ceremony for men and women assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. It is always a privilege to honor brave Iowans as they reunite with their families after months of service overseas. We are grateful for their sacrifice and dedication to our nation. Last week, Iowans let me know they strongly believe we must support rural moms access to quality labor and delivery care. That’s why I was proud to introduce the Rural MOMS Act, to ensure expecting mothers in our rural communities have access to high quality maternal care.

Renewable fuels contribute nearly $5.4 billion to Iowa’s GDP. E15 is a commonsense win for our farmers, families, and producers!

Agriculture is the economic engine of Iowa, and our farmers and producers work long hours and make unseen sacrifices to feed and fuel our country. Those sacrifices can take a toll on our farm producers. That’s why I made sure my Farmers First Act was included in the Farm Bill, to fully fund the Farm and Ranch Assistance Network, ensuring our farmers and producers have the support they need in times of crisis.

Grinnell Regional Medical Center is one of several Iowa hospitals that benefits from the Rural Community Hospital Demonstration program, which supports rural hospitals and improves patient care by providing more reliable Medicare support.    I recently joined @RepFeenstra in supporting efforts to reauthorize this program. It has been vital to the long-term health & economic stability of our rural communities.    I also helped secure a major investment for the labor and delivery unit at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.  I’ll keep fighting to advance policies that strengthen & protect access to care for Iowa families!
