I recently met with Jamie Justice and Jim Hoffman of Ocean Isle Museum Foundation at the NC Legislature's Science Day. The Museum and the Planetarium help educate thousands of school kids every year about our coastal environment and the universe around us.

I served with Rep. Mike Clampitt in the NC House. He was a great friend and a passionate advocate for Western NC, fighting cancer with that same incredible resolve. We will miss him dearly. My prayers and deepest condolences go out to his family during this time of grief.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of former Governor Jim Hunt. He was a visionary leader and passionate advocate for our state over the course of several decades. My condolences to Lt. Governor Rachel Hunt and all of Governor Hunt's family and friends.

Rep. Iler recently attended a ribbon cutting for Garnet Place, a new community of 72 apartment homes that are affordable to working families. Eight of the apartment homes are set aside for people with disabilities.

BCC Broad of Trustees Chairman Alan Holden & President Dr. Gene Smith presented a resolution making Rep. Iler a member emeritus of the Board of Trustees. recognizing his 18 yrs of service to BCC on the Board of Trustees. Justin Whiteside, Town Manager of OIB will fill the seat.
