Thank you so much to everyone who came to @ResponderCon! We had such a fantastic time, and we're so grateful to everyone who made it possible. Thank you to the staff for putting on such a great event and to everyone who came from all over the world to attend.
Good presentation. This is telling - and worrying : "It appears we are entering the next phase of ransomware which will be dominated by smaller groups, often more difficult to track down."
We are seeing this happen actually. The power lies with the group that has access. As affiliates become more skilled, they will have a options as to which Ransomware group they partner with. I won’t be surprised if we see a ransomware partnership auction place in the future
I want to thank the team at @ResponderCon for a grays conference and this really fun mug which reminds me:
Make sure you include how you are going to feed your incident responders in in your ransomware planning!
The first slide of my @ResponderCon presentation (technically, 4th after title and intro slides) is simply that:
“Have there been more ransomware attacks in 2022 than 2021?”
Honestly, I could probably spend my whole talk debating that with attendees.
The thing that has me *almost* there is the confusion over whether ransomware is getting better or worse over the past year. I think it's tough to make any kind of cyber policies or take action if you can't measure the problem.
