The myth that Sean Connery was “bored” in his later Bond films is everywhere.
But it’s wrong.
Connery wasn’t checked out; he was adapting. You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, and Never Say Never Again all prove it.
Here’s why. 👇
ALT They don't stand a chance against James Bond; Sean Connery; 007!
Were entering the territory of “X is in the running to play James Bond” news stories now that casting has begun.
Just be mindful that most of these haven’t actually happened and it’s just their agents trying to drum up curiosity for their clients…

When the then unknown Sean Connery was announced to play James Bond on the 3rd November 1961, there was very little media coverage about it.
Nobody predicted the success that was going to follow when Dr No came out in October 1962...

Finally found the time to see it at the cinema for the 30th anniversary re-release! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it like this during the #JamesBond 60th anniversary re-releases 3 years ago, so I know I'm in for a good time.

ALT Sean Connery laughs with Akiko Wakabayashi and director Lewis Gilbert during a rehearsal at Kobe Docks for You Only Live Twice (1967). Though Connery faced challenges on location, moments like this reflect the camaraderie he sometimes found on set.

Going in for another #firstwatch here of one of #SeanConnery's post-Bond films. Always interesting to see him playing against type during this period of his career!
That was fun! It says something about Connery's charisma as a film star that he fits well into a role different to his usual ones.
My favourite scene would probably be when Raisuli tells the story of his imprisonment; Sean has the sort of voice that makes you sit up and listen.
On this day 58 years ago, the fifth Sean Connery led #JamesBond film YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE had its world premiere in London’s Leicester Square!
Did Connery finish up his first run as 007 on a high note?
