Obi was never going to win that election because it was clear he won’t win any state in the 19 states of the North and at least 5 states of the SW. That was 24 states he was never going to win. Atiku stood the best chance of beating BAT. And he could have easily done but PDP’s traditional bases of SE and SS were depleted. There was only going to be one winner. I gave Atiku small chance in my scenario 3 because I wasn’t sure how loyal party members of the SS and SE were going to take Obi, but it wasn’t the case as we saw later, making it easier for a BAT victory. On rigging, every single presidential election since 1979, there have been some rigging. All, bar, maybe, 1993. When NPN beat UPN and NPP in 1979 and 1983, when PDP beat AD/APP in 1999, beat APP in 2003, beat ANPP and AC in 2007, the CPC and ACN in 2011, when APC beat PDP in 2015 and 2019, there were rigging. Was it enough to tilt? No The worst rigging in Nigeria happened in 2007, but with ot withour rigging, no way Buhari’s APP was ever going to defeat Yaradua’s PDP. Was there rigging in 2023? Yes, mostly by APC and LP in their supporters’ strongholds (people don’t take bullet for Atiku - he never had that loyalty, that fanatical support base!). Did that tilt outcome? As it was in 1979, as it was in 2007, it doesn’t tilt outcome. Presidential election is not HOR election! This thing is not about wishes or preferences, it is about reality of Nigerian system.

Brother, after their business/professional life wherever they find themselves, many elderly Igbo people return home to retire and live out the rest of their lives. Even when they die here, they would take them back home to bury. Igbos have the least takeover agenda in Nigeria, it's mostly about business and investment for them. No one is more attached to his ancestral land than the Igbo man, that's why no matter how big they get, they always have a country home. If we are to go by historical accounts, hostile takeovers in the context of contemporary Nigerian history are almost exclusively a Fulani-Islamist agenda. I have many friends whose parents have gone back to the East to retire after a life of business in the South West. Igbo are not taking over shit.

1. My opinion about the state of Nigeria before and after the presidential election has always been that One Nigeria is a scam and can never work with the selfish bigots leading Nigeria. I felt crushed hearing an Islamic leader calling the Igbos infidels in their own country unprovoked! He even mocked Peter Obi for visiting Kano. The hatred runs deeply and I do not want to be a part of such country. This is not the first time I’m hearing this from other Muslim scholars but the FG does not care to address it. It is clear that they prefer a divided Nigeria too. 2. Peter Obi is the only person who could unite Nigeria to a comfortable state but since they don’t want him or the Igbos to lead this country, and constantly remind us that Igbos can never be the president of a country we have equal rights to, then separation is the only way out. 3. I do not believe nor agree with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s approach to referendum and I have my reasons for that. Not agreeing with MNK does not mean that I do not recognize the Igbo struggles or agree with a separation. I am Igbo and so is MNK, but the idea to separate didn’t start from him nor does the Igbo tribe belong to him. So while I have my reservations about him and his IPOB movement, the struggles of the Igbos affect us all and must be addressed! 4. As the days go by, it is becoming obvious that the Muslim north is better off on their own as a Muslim nation where they are free to practice their beliefs the way they like without distractions from the infidels.
