Musicals are my jam. Data is nice, but open data is so much better. Rollercoasters are awesome. Tea is good. So is courage.

Meanwhile, in Japan 🇯🇵 Office chair grand prix. The race sees teams battle it out on office chairs for two hours to see who can complete the most laps of the 656-foot course. Anyone caught modifying their chair is disqualified.

this is the oldest māori map of aotearoa, drawn by tuki te terenui whare pira in 1793 after he was kidnapped by the norfolk island governor to teach prisoners flax weaving. he couldn't, so he instead drew a map of the north/south island (focused on the far north) to get home
it's pretty funny that "new zealand" "nationalists" are so insistent on using a name not even given by the dutch guy who didn't land here, but dutch cartographers who realised that the guy who didn't land here was wrong about where he thought he was

Did not expect a question that starts out 'Do you think before you speak?' to go so well. A question from Charlotte Harpur A response from Eileen Gu.

I've noticed in most new builds I see in Auckland (Glen Innes, Hobsonville, Kumeu, etc) the houses don't have eves. Why did we do away with eves? They seem very practical, for a start it allowed windows to be open in wet weather, and kept out the midday sun in summer. Any ideas?
