BREAKING: Wildly popular TV series Peaky Blinders drops a bombshell on Ron DeSantis after his campaign uses a clip of the show's protagonist Tommy Shelby in a shockingly bigoted anti-LGBTQ campaign ad. The disturbing video ignited a firestorm of controversy and was intended to prove that DeSantis is far more hateful towards the LGBTQ community than Donald Trump in an effort to pander to far-right voters. The video features a montage of strong-looking men and characters as part of pathetic effort to make people think that DeSantis is strong. It fooled nobody. We've all seen the bizarre way DeSantis talks and opens his mouth in public. Peaky Blinders released an official statement stating that the creators of the show as well as the lead actor Cillian Murphy can confirm that the "footage of Tommy Shelby's character" exploited in the video was "obtained without permission or official license." They stated that they "neither support nor endorse" the "narrative" of the video and "strongly disapprove of the use of the content in this manner." DeSantis thought that he was going to score cool points by using a popular show, but only ended up embarrassing himself in the end. The simple truth is that normal people do not like this fascist weirdo and he does not get to lay claim to our pop culture icons. Please retweet and ❤️ if you think that Peaky Blinder should sue DeSantis — and consider investing in Tribel, a “woke” new Twitter competitor that is currently doing a round of equity crowdfunding and just blew past $2.4 million raised from 6,200 of its users. If you want to own a small piece of what is quickly becoming the “next big thing” in social media, here is the link to do so, wefunder.com/Tribel. You can invest as little as $100 — or as much as you’d like. Here’s the link to download the new Tribel app that Elon Musk is so afraid of: tribel.app.link/okwPIHYCIqb

Quantum computing question: Suppose we could implement very long quantum computations on 1000 *clean* qubits (clean = logical qubits, after any error-correction). What would be the clear-cut *practical* applications? (serious question)

One might be breaking certain crypto systems. Though estimates are 4000 qubits for this, maybe there are clever ways of doing this with 1000 qubits. What else?

I have a fundamental physics question: the Bell inequality violations do not rule out local hidden variables if we assume super-determinism. Is there a good counter argument to super-determinism?

For computer scientists, the proof that QM does not have local hidden variables is easy because we assume Alice and Bob can randomly (or arbitrarily) set their detectors. 2/3

For physicists, it’s a more subtle argument, because random generation is not a primitive operation in the model. But an argument that QM does not have local hidden variables can be made along the lines of fine tuning (which I like to think of as Occam's Razor). 3/3
... and Toronto is the same latitude as Nice.
A favourite random fact: Richmond, Virginia, just south of DC, is at the same latitude as... Tunisia, North Africa:

Trying to get some intuition of what probability 16.6% means. It's the probability of losing at Russian Roulette.
