I was appointed as a Council Member of the Africa Business Events Development Council, under the Association Development Portfolio by @NichePartners1.
The Council brings together leaders from 12 African countries with a clear and ambitious goal, grow Africa's share of the global business events market from 3% to 10% by 2035.
That is not a small ask. But it is the right ask.
Africa hosts some of the most compelling meetings, conferences, and incentive travel experiences in the world. The infrastructure is growing.
The stories are already there. What has been missing is a coordinated, continent-wide strategy to position business events as a serious economic driver, not an afterthought to leisure tourism.
That is what this Council is being built to do.
I look forward to contributing through the Association Development working group, helping strengthen the institutions, professional societies, and networks that make this industry function at scale.
To everyone working at the intersection of tourism, MICE, and destination development across the continent, this is our moment to move from promise to performance.
